Sorry if there is there a thread for this band... the search still does not seem to work and I didn't feel like scrolling back through pages and pages of threads to see.
Does anyone else here like this band? I had heard a couple of their songs before... just picked up "It's Blitz!" and am hooked. I know that this album is way different from their previous ones... apparently they had a more rock sound before. I will definitely be picking up their previous albums. Sometimes I can't believe I go for so long without hearing a particular band... I am now infatuated with Karen O's voice, from the angry tone of "It's a Dull Life" to the Blondie-sound of "Dragon Queen" to the melodic awesomeness of "Little Shadow" and "Skeletons." Of course there is the obvious comparison of her with Chrissy Hynde from the Pretenders, (and they have the same haircut and everything) but I think she has a unique voice unto herself as well.
On another note, I have now obtained Level 8 Thetan and am hanging out with Tom Cruise and David Muscavige. They like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs too.
Into the dust we struggled...and yet we couldn't make coffee |

I do. But the new album is a bit lame.
I think they are shit live as well, they are a studio band.

I like the 80's revival, but the last album just didn't do it for me. I was hoping for something more like the ISIS ep that came out last year. That seriously rocked that did. Apparently the guitarist was pressured into playing less in this album, not a good move I think, could lose them fans.

I like 'em quite a bit. Having heard the first two albums and some eps I think SHOW YOUR BONES (whatever the 2nd album's called) is their best work. I haven't picked up BLITZ, for while I respect when an artist goes in a new direction/changes things up, I don't always enjoy said changes. Granted I haven't heard the album but I'm not a big fan of 80s keyboard pop. Some of it I love, (from the 80s) but I'm doubtful of their take on it.
I'll probably listen to it at some point though.
They were okay live; but nothing I felt I needed to seek out again. Worth seeing once for sure, though. |

They are one of those "Emperor's New Clothes" bands. Sudden flurry of press attention, next big thing, blah blah blah, so you go and see them live and they are crap, much more crap than you thought they could be, but NME gives them a rave review. And you wonder if you're the only one who thinks they have no new ideas and they can't play! |
