Upon the latest announcement that the Pixies are planning another more thorough European tour in the autumn, including another four day residency at Brixton Academy in London, and a return to the SECC in Glasgow, I thought I would start a thread about what songs we would like them to play.

I think they should maybe have allowed a bit more time in between stops, and possibility of adding more dates, because I think there is going to be a bit of a demand for the one Scottish gig, and there will be a lot of old fans out there who felt very let down by the last gig there, which saw the show being cancelled after only three songs due to a problem with the stage, and who will be anxious to get a ticket for this, me included.

Well they said they would come back, but it only took them 18 years!

I wondered what sort of material people like them to play this time, because they tend to play mostly Come on Pilgrim and Doolittle these days, with Velouria being the only track off Bossanova. They did play Dig For Fire on the recent festival tour though.

This time round I would like to hear more material off the latter two albums, although that will probably have to be at the expense of some earlier classics. But I heard plenty of old stuff when I saw them in Brixton in 2004, so I am more than happy to sacrifice a few oldies. For a four album band they do have a lot of good material to fill a set with.

I would like very much for them to play the setlist they had written out for the SECC last time. Started off with Rock Music, and the third song was Veloria I think. I have idea what the rest of the set was going to be of course but I would probably imagine something in line with what I would want them to play/have played.

The songs I would like to hear are, in no particular order:

Rock Music
Cecilia Ann/Alison
Veloria
All Over The World
The Happening
Hang Wire

Palace of The Brine
Letter to Memphis
Motorway to Roswell
The Sad Punk
Head On

Where is My Mind?
River Euphrates
Caribou

Debaser
Hey
Gouge Away
Dead
Wave of Mutilation

Frank Black and co to play shows in London, Dublin, Glasgow

Pixies have announced details of a European tour for October that includes shows in London, Dublin and Glasgow.

Frank Black and co will play two nights at the Dublin Olympia, four at the O2 Academy Brixton in London and one at the Glasgow SECC.

The gig run will be named the 'Doolittle' tour to mark the 20th anniversary of the release of that album.

Pixies will play all the songs that feature on the album and its related b-sides at the shows.

The band are set to release a new career-spanning box set, 'Minotaur', in September. They played an impromptu live gig in London earlier this month at an exhibition of the set's artwork.

Pixies will play:

Dublin Olympia (October 1, 2)
Glasgow SECC (4)
O2 Academy Brixton (6, 7, 8, 9)
Frankfurt Jahrhunderhalle (11)
Amsterdam Heineken Music Hall (13)
Brussels Forest National (14)
Paris Zenith (15)

Tickets go on sale at 9am (BST) on Friday (July 3)

I don't like that idea very much. My day has been partially ruined now.

although I don't think Doolittle is their best or most exciting record, it's still nice to be going to a show like this

If I were going to a Pixies show (which I'm not....I'm in the U.S.) I'd hope to hear
Bird Dream of the Olympus Mons.

Also, I decided last night that I'd like to hear them do a cover of Led Zeppelin's
Whole Lotta Love.

Break My Body, Alec Eiffel, Hang Wire....maybe even Blown Away? In any case, I'm delighted we'll be hearing the likes of Bailey's Walk, Dancing The Manta Ray and Weird At My School.

I hope in addition to the Doolittle tracks you guys get the songs listed here. But I really came on to say Whole Lotta Love is a great idea, kfs. It would be unexpected (a Zep cover?!) offers both Frank and Kim a chance to really let loose with their voices and most of all, gives Joey a chance to create some amazing noise during the theremin breakdown part. A Pixiefied Whole Lotta Love. That would be great.

i think the whole idea of playing covers is cool, but if they were to play whole lotta love I am almost certain that they would make a complete hash of it.

i want to get stoned and see them play some of the b-sidey tracks from bossanova,

although I listened to doolittle tonight under the influence of drugs and sun, an I thoroughly enojyed it, especially gouge away. I think it has some f the most complex vocal harmonies between black and deal of any album, and I look forward to hearing it, and just seeing them.

PIXIES I LOVE YOU GUUUUUUYYYYYYYYS, you are all awesome in so many ways

Cecilia Ann and Alison work well together. It was seeing them play these songs live on the word that got me into them.

I don't know what Joey does on the live version of Bum Thwak. I don't really like the song very much. But if Joey does something interesting live then maybe I'm up for it.

I'd prefer to hear Down to the well though, amongst other songs..
