Thanks Kyle. I would not have seen it if you wouldn't have pointed it out. It's a very nice venue indeed. Thanks for sharing. This news really brighened up my day!
I take it you're going? I think my husband and cousin are going to go too.
By the way, I really like your website. You do an outstanding job. |

Two more days! Whoopee!
By the way, I haven't been able to confirm it on my own, but a little bird told me that the man himself will be doing an in studio performance at around 3 (Central Standard Time US) pm on Friday. http://minnesota.publicradio.org/radio/services/the_current/
I am more than 100% sure I have to work at this time an can't listen, but they do a pretty good job of archiving past performances, too. |

You'd think his managament would be announcing things like this so that fans could tune in. Are press releases difficult to assemble?

Yeah, I agree. We get no word whatsoever from management on dates, in spite of repeated requests, nevermind having press releases. I would've been in Regina to see him but I found out about the show only 1-1.5 weeks beforehand and had tickets to Xavier Rudd for that night.

Hi guys!! I will do my best...at the reporting. It might be tough to do a very good job b/c this is a 60hr work week and then we're heading out of town for my friend's wedding first thing Sat am. (My friend's a huge FB fan, so I am not telling him that I get to see him the night before. Don't want to bum him out in any way because he has to be at the rehearsal dinner.) :)
As far as the planning goes... FB/BF has always said he's a snake and they just stay on their belly and don't really plan ahead. I guess that's what's going on. I am also guessing that it seems like it's only Violet, The Bureaucrat and Charles doing everything. Throw in a bunch of kids and it's no wonder that every pr item doesn't get released. Just a thought. |

Nah, he has a full-time manager (who lives in the UK) to do this sort of work for him ostensibly.

Yeah, Richard Hermitage is managing him now, isn't he?
I wonder if BF will hire a publicist for once. |

Hi everyone... I have to wake up in 5 hrs so here's the highlights: - Awesome show! It was plugged.
I don't remember everything but he played stuff of Bluefinger, BLD, TOTY, FB, Lots of Pixies, SMYT, COR,and Pistolero- My favorite moment was when I accidentally let out a little scream when he was going into CA Bound. He said something along the lines of ... that's from an obscure album. I am surprised someone knows that one. That's one of my favorite songs to listen to whenever, but I am going through a hard time, like right now, so it means extra.
The other moment was when my cousin just said Old Black Dawning and he went right into it. - What a stellar performance...it's really busy right now w/ friend's wedding an what not, but I will try to post more.
If you ever read this, FB/BF thank you so much!!!! What an awesome preformance. Thanks so much for coming to minny. |

Told one story of being in Spain with the band, on a shitty tour bus and flaring tempers, and deciding he was going to stay at a hotel 100 miles inland while everyone else went to the coast. He only had Cohen's 'I'm Your Man' album and some basic recording equipment that he was going to bring in. He gets off the bus only to see Kim having the same idea. And to top it off, the clerk put them in neighboring rooms of an 800 room empty hotel.
He dedicated a couple of the later songs to Husker Du and Soul Asylum.
He noted that I Burn Today was written a couple days before the first Pixies '04 reunion show here in Minneapolis. |

Great set. I know there's no written setlist, but it's been a fairly stable bunch of songs in the last few years. |

“You know what I do when I start to lose [the crowd]?” the artist formerly known as Charles Thompson asked semi-rhetorically, about three-quarters of the way through his nearly two-hour solo-acoustic set. “I play a Pixies song,” he replied. And with that, he launched into “Cactus” and then “Where Is My Mind?”
Truth is, Frank never really lost the crowd, a sweaty and elbow-to-elbow packed but adoring roomful of fans. He made that quip because he went on a little too long explaining the story behind “Angels Come to Comfort You” (about a Dutch guy who jumped to his death at the same Amsterdam Hilton where John and Yoko staged their bedside crusade). The “Storytellers” aspect to the show was actually a big selling point, especially when he talked about listening to the Ramones and writing to Joey Santiago in Puerto Rico just before starting the Pixies (”I Heard Ramona”), and when he referenced local legends Husker Du and Soul Asylum, the latter of whom he remembered playing with in 1988 (their Marshall stacks made a big impression on he and Joey). He let his final batch of songs speak for themselves, including “Burnt Out Rock ‘n’ Roll” and the encore with “Headache” and “Nimrod.” The latter was the only other Pixies tune I heard, though I missed about the first half-hour (covering the Basilica party). Other songs I caught included ”I Burn Today,” “The Water,” “Old Black Dawning,” “Lolita,” “Massif Centrale,” ”Los Angeles,” ”Dead Man’s Curve” and “Sing for Joy.” |
