Pixies announce intimate London club appearance

Plus win tickets to the band's 'Minotaur' party

Pixies are set to appear at a party in London on Monday (June 15) – and it is strongly rumoured that the band will be playing live.

The party is being billed as a "visual exploration" of Frank Black and co's music, and ties in with the release of compilation, 'Minotaur' which collects together the Pixies' albums so far.

The party is invite-only, but NME.COM has three pairs of tickets to give away. Head to NME.COM/win to be in with a chance of getting into the Pixies' party.

Meanwhile, Pixies are set to play on the Main Stage of the Isle Of Wight festival on Sunday (June 14) – the day before the party.

Obviously, the NME does speculate way too much, but seeing as it's listed as a tour date on blackfrancis.net, it's interesting.

Applied for tix via the NME site.

Hey guys,

I ll be at the place at around 7h, 7h30pm. I doubt I ll manage to get in but I ll try. If some of you come around it would be fun to meet just for the sake of it and at least ending up in some pub singing Havalina.

I ll be wearing a cap and a bear and bleu eyes and smiling. See you there if yo dare.

Joey Joe

Well, seems it was a gig after all. Anyone manage to get in? Nice to know it was kept as exclusive as promised, and that most fans didn't have the slightest chance of getting to see it!

Just woke up, my head hurts.
...
I finally got in along with other people who did not have invitations. You just need a bit of patience and a smiling face sometimes.
Free beer and white wine.
Pictures on the wall. Ok , it s nice.
The band played.
Kim Deal started to Ouhhh Ouhhh for Where is my mind, then
I think Monkey gone to heaven, n 13 baby, U Mass, Tame, Gigantic, Into the white and Dig for Fire (they had to restart 2 times to get together) I can t remember if they played Debaser and other songs.
Encore, Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf)
That was very good, you know, the Pixies...

Then the party, I meet some nice people and got to talk to the band (minus Kim I couldn't see anywhere in the crowd)
I couldn't have info on the Golem. Maybe was I a little to drunk when talking to Black Francis... Anyway he will be in Paris in October for a Pixies show (Zenith).I spoke with lovely Dave Lovering and asked him if he could make us the priviledge to sing in Everybody. Yes! He will on 4 songs apparently. Then Joey, who will as usual not sing.
That was cool, intimate, but a little too cool. I would have enjoyed 4 times more all that mood 15 years ago I guess.
It was a shame that the majority was not big Pixies fans. They did not dance a lot on the songs. The band was there to promote something and not for the sake of rock'n roll. But That's Rock'n Roll today...
WCIS?

Now gotta listen to the second unofficial album by Bobbie Peru. The band is very cool and it was a pleasure to speak to Ding Archer. He agrees that he shold play again with Black Francis for something fresh and new. Special mention to the singer and his lovely girlfriend.

Yusuf

Anyway

That's wicked, glad you got in! I was a bit put off by the 'if you're not invited, you're not getting in' attitude of some people.

Sounds like an interesting evening. And also that the Pixies will be performing end of the year!

Wow some of you guys blagged your way into this! That's great.

I must say I was gutted when I heard about the competition just after the winners had been picked. I just know I'd have won if I'd entered.

I saw Bobbie Peru play last year at the Zwolle gig, they were pretty good. I think Ding should play with BF again, and get Charles Normal back on the riff machine so BF can concentrate more on screaming and sweating.

It'd be good to see Normal touring again, but keep BF playing guitar too! Not sure if the all singing punk approach was entirely a success.

"They were watched by fans including Klaxons' Jamie Reynolds and James Righton, former Libertines man Carl Barat and his ex-Dirty Pretty Things bandmate Anthony Rossomando, The Horrors frontman Faris Badwan and My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields"

Almost glad I wasn't there ;)

I know this is getting way to picky, but I like the fact Black is using his Telecaster for all the acoustic songs.

Rosewood, actually :P

On the Grand Duchy tour, he's been using it through an acoustic amp too. Piezo pickup under the bridge too, perhaps.
