The biggest jetliner yet! I will pay extra to go on this thing if I ever fly the route it takes. An absolute marvel.

I'm afraid to fly and get anxious just looking at that graphic. Yeah, I know, safer that driving. Whatever.

That is a large, large plane, I admit. Biggest I've ever seen.

Other male planes must be very envious.

Carl, please. Can't you see shiner and I were alone in the thread and getting intimate?

Actually I have to go to sleep. Goodnight, everybody.

A guy from work here flew back from Sydney to Singapore last week on Singapore Airlines A380, its second commercial flight.

Yeah, he said it was great but that was mainly due to the novelty I think.

The amount of room was not much more than economy in a standard B747, but the design, ergonomics and entertainment system etc are streets ahead of anything else.

I'm not sure how many airports in Canada can handle an A380 right now, maybe just Montreal.

Is it because there are big holes in the walls? :P

According to Wikipedia, Montreal, Toronto and
Vancouver will be offering regular Airbus A380 flights.

And since they're building a new terminal here in Winnipeg,
I imagine that they will be capable of handling the plane,
assuming our runways are wide enough. Although I think the only
747s we ever see are either charters or cargo, those with
combative Europe-bound Californians and drunken
Californian-bound Europeans.

yeah, airbus designed it so it could land at most international airports. the international airport standard maximum is an 80-meter wingspan. the A380 was designed with a 79'6" -meter wingspan. they couldn't make it any bigger without redesigning the airports they wished to serve.

They will lose billions on this white elephant. I think they now need to build 420 to break even - not a chance.

How come they're called White Elephants when they're clearly green?

200 ordered, 13 delivered and in service.

emirates just substituted in a 777 for one of their daily dubai-new york runs last month.

qantas flies a melbourne to LA A380 run. maybe that's what i'll have to do.
