sorry if there's already a topic about this, but i didn't find one.
i haven't seen the movie yet, but i downloaded the free 13 minute short film from iTunes that stars schwartzman and the stunning natalie portman and takes placebefore the events of the darjeeling limited.

I loved the movie. The short had some gem one liners like "I promise I'll never be your friend".

It was okay, better than most movies out right now, but I liked Anderson's last three movies much better (even life aquatic, which some people put down for reasons unknown to me). This one is just way too unsubtle at times. Such as....
spoilers!!!
like when Owen Wilson takes off his bandages and says 'I guess I still have a lot of healing to do', or how they've been literally carrying around their dead father's baggage through out India, and at the end are able to finally get rid of it. Also, they're on a spiritual voyage, but by train, which has a fixed path, and things don't work out for them till they get off that path. Plus that diorama screen, where they show everybody on the train, even people who shouldn't be there, like Bill Murray, Natale Portman, and Adrian Brody's character's wife, just screams 'we're all on this trip called life together!' As I said, it felt unsubtle.
I felt that, for the first act at least, the characters weren't nearly as likable as Anderson's usual creations, which distracted from the sense of whimsy that his movies usually rely on. I like it overall, but I also fell some disappointment. I'm hoping that on repeat viewing I'll appreciate it more.
