I am not sure if this topic has ever been touched on in this forum, but this is a topic I ponder from time to time. Is there anyone who has ever brought more intensity to the topic of a trekker than Frank Black? By the away, I like this song. Open thoughts on this song welcome. |

Very surprised this ain't popular among fans. Up there with Los Angeles. Quintessential. Cruisin' and chock full of great lines and licks. Another tune that puts paid to the lie that it's cool to dismiss anyone as boring or nerdy, even a trekker. Everything's equally interesting at a molecular level.

Great track, the live version from the electric ladylad studio is wild. The drumming is kick ass, then the final verse where the whole band is singing "paaaarry the wind, hiiiiiiiiigggghhhhhhh lloooooooooooowww". Man that was without doubt my fav Frank period. Balls out space rock. |

I wouldn't say it's not popular among fans tro, i suppose it's not mentioned as much as tracks like LA, Czar, etc. I love it, it manages to be fun, spooky, quirky and still rock out! I love the coda's nod to the chanting in Close Encounters!

the guitar riffs are fantastic. they blend very well with frank's screaming - "way down inside.." not to forget the reference to desmond dekker - probably because it rhymes with trekker. praise the yellow (CD) / orange (vinyl) album!

I had wondered Carl. Also I was 12 when Close Encounters came out (Frank was too). The second film (after Kes) to blow me away. I bet it blew Frank away too. There's that bit in So Hard To Make Things Out that reminds me of CE too, the bit about congregating on the big plains. With limboing and tannoy announcements about 'personal belongings'. I know he says 'spirits' in the song but I always imagine small town American families who've come out looking for a second glimpse of a UFO.

I never liked the end of the album (I always mix up Every Time I Go Around Here and Don't Ya Rile 'Em) but Parry the Wind is always the song that stands out the most for me.
Every thought a ricochet...

It makes a nice little companion piece for Adda Lee.

it doesn't say that the convention was at LAX, in Los Angeles (Los Angeles International Airport).. did you know that smarty pants?
besides, people might not have known the song was inspired from an actual real convention (as some songwriting have been known to be fictional) |
