Frank Black: Kim Deal is against new Pixies album Singer speaks out about new record 12.Oct.07 2:00pm
Pixies will not be making a new album, due to bassist Kim Deal's reluctance, says frontman Frank Black.
Despite plans the reunited band would start work on a new album in January of this year, Black denied this was the case.
He told The Gothamist that bassist Kim Deal was against a new album, saying: "While I may have tried to convince her otherwise, maybe she's got a point... She doesn't need a new Pixies record, so maybe there doesn't need to be one."
Black has just released a new album 'Bluefinger' under his Pixies name of Black Francis while Deal's band The Breeders are working with Steve Albini on a new album.
It's a tad over the top. One quote spawns how many articles?! If I were Kim, and was considering it, I certainly wouldn't be now. Actually, If I were Kim, I'd be in the recording studio taping catchy songs that pop into my head.
It's not even a story anymore, is it? No Pixies album. How long have we known about this one.
I for one would like to buy a new Pixie's album, even if there is a new base player. Plenty of bands go on and make new albums even after the loss of a member. Why not go Black Francis vocals and guitar, Joey Santiago guitar, David Lovering on drums, and John Doe on Base. This kind of thing never stopped Metallica.
