Okay. Both fantastic shows...if not the best two examples in TV history of anthology series.
I am partial to Rod Serling's show THE TWILIGHT ZONE. However, I have lately had a renewed interest in THE OUTER LIMITS as I haven't watched OL for probably 25 years. TZ I have watched on and off over the past 30 years. I started to buy OL dvd's lately, and realized what a fascinating show it really was, as it went over my head as a child. Plus, where TZ taught a morality lesson through irony in 30 minutes, OL was a bit more lengthy for me at 60 minutes.
Of course, there's ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS and NAKED CITY and ONE STEP BEYOND, and a slew of other anthology series of the late 50's - early 60's...but I want to focus on the pros and cons of OL vs. TZ. Any comments? Favorite episodes? All views are welcome.

I have an MP3 of Frank performing the theme from "One Step Beyond," which he calls "the poor man's Twilight Zone." I can't say I'd heard of the show prior to that.

ONE STEP BEYOND was a show created by an actor named John Newland, who also hosted it a la Rod Serling. Whereas THE TWILIGHT ZONE was dramatic fantasy and THE OUTER LIMITS was primarily science fiction, ONE STEP BEYOND was dramatic reenactments of actual purported supernatural cases. It enjoyed a modest run concurrent with TZ, but ultimately fell short on the creative plane.
John Newland attempted to resurrect the show in the late 70's, NEXT STEP BEYOND as a syndicated series, but it lasted about 4 minutes. I remember watching it...it scared the shit out of me...again, I was all of about 7, so anything pretty much scared the shit out of me.
About the only thing fun about ONE STEP BEYOND was the corny narration provided by the hammy Mr. Newland, and the fact that the show catered to up-and-coming actors of the time who went on to become tv and movie staple figures.
