I notice the word Ireland popping up here and there in this forum. My Grandfather was %100 Irish, he has passed on but I am still %25 Irish, even though I have never been to Ireland. Any other Irish in the forum want to spill the beans about being Irish, or any thoughts on the Country.

My Grandmother was 100% Irish and also the master of pale grey meat loaf and refried spaghetti.

My Grandfather was 100% Italian.

Elaborate please. I mean I don't walk around thinking I'm Irish or pine for the motherland.

You say "but so what", an elaboration would be an interest in geneology. It matters to some, to others maybe not so much.

This thread directly relates to this one

http://forum.frankblack.net/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19068

because in Goodfellas Ray Liotta's character explains that he and Robert De Niro's character can't become made guys because they are half Irish and only 100% Italian guys can be made so if they step out of line their families in back in Italy can be punished.

KOK, that's your best sigatar yet. I speak from experience, living in a Hello Kitty-filled house.

I blame this tangent on the sinus medicine I'm on.

Ok Darwin, I see what you mean about being the mutts of the world. But not everone came to the US because "we were kicked out", some came for economic reasons.

Maybe a better question would be can anyone trace their family back to the land bridge.

I'm 25% Ecuadorian. And a little Irish, I think. And Italian, and French, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. My last name is French.
