My windows media player wont work, and Im thinking maybe it was a codec or something that is preventing it from running? when I start Windows media player it says it must be reinstalled, any ideas how to do this?

Here's a thread with various problems. Sounds like lots of problems.

This I found doing a quick search

Go to Control panel -> Programs and Features, Select "Turn Windows features
on or off" (on left hand side), Uncheck Win media player, then "OK"


What have you tried?

I would have assumed, by which I mean it was just an assumption, if it was anything like XP, that you would do this from

Control Panel-->Add or Remove Programs-->Add/Remove Windows Components.

Uncheck Windows media player.

But the ultimate solution is to throw your computer in the trash and run Linux.
