This was in The Guardian's Music Section today and is their pick of the '16 Worst Album Covers Ever' and has been prompted by Hard-Fi's latest , which in the opinion of the journo's doing the picking is the worst album cover ever.
This is the link:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/gallery/2007/aug/01/albumcovers?picture=330310522.
There are some pretty bad ones picked (e.g.The Cranberries), but they have missed some major howlers such as:
And:
Anyone care to add?

Yeah, the Hard Fi cover kind of sucks. Depending on your point of view, this is either the best or worst cover ever:

There was a thread on this subject a long time ago, there's a similar thread going on another forum I post on. This is perhaps my all time fave:

For years, i pictured Jon Tiven as the guy in the front row on the right.

Srisaket, there's a worse Scorpions album cover out there. Have you ever seen the Virgin Killer album art? It has a picture of a naked prepubescent girl on it. What irritates me about the cover is that it's only there for shock value. Any fans who bought the album pretty much had to look at child pornography. Good way to go way overboard into your persona. |

That disgusting cover was only used in Japan, though. The rest of the world gets a less disturbing but not much better looking band photo.
(My friend in Japan claims that in porn over there you're not allowed to show genitals/pubes (hidden behind the crack in the glass on said cover) or girls smiling/enjoying sex (the little girl doesn't look happy), and that pretty much all girls are made up to look as young as possible. The latter isn't just porn, I guess; it took a few days of Tokyo street walks to spot someone that was clearly between 15 and 35.) |

speaking of nudity on album covers. this D.O.A. album was only limited to about 1000 copies. it is only four tracks. i have seen it in 12" but i guess it's also available in 7". the girl on the left is margaret trudeau, i believe this is before she was pierre trudeau's wife (pierre trudeau was canada's prime minister for 16 years). if you look closely you can see a lack of undergarment on the studious margaret.
The waxworks were an immensely eloquent dissertation on the wonderful ordinariness of mankind. |

I have this in the 12" uncensored version with the flimsy cover. I've never heard of the 7" -- if it exists, it's probably a bootleg.

I have seen that cover, but didn't have the gall to post it here - it is disgusting.
BTW - you may want to visit this site to see a collection of the worst album art (if you can bear it); http://www.zonicweb.net/badalbmcvrs |

I laughed out loud upon seeing that.
there's a bad Unrest album cover out there. Unrest was a great band, though. |
