Seriously though, I like how his voice sounds especially at its most whiny like in Oh Comely when he's singing Know all your enemies or even Let your skin begin to blend itself with mine.
I didn't know there was such a 'hype'. I don't know one person who knows NMH at all (except you guys.)
There are so many mouth, tongue, teeth references. Any interpretations?
__________ Fuck off I got work to do.
But I am Canadian, Carolynanna. And my last name is even the same as that of the drummer from Rush. (But I don't think we're related, especially because he pronounces our name incorrectly.) As for the "hype," I'm only referring to this thread.
Ok, so I have 17 downloads left with eMusic this month. I'm going to download one of their albums. Should I start with the older one ("On Avery Island") or the newer one ("Aeroplane")? What's weird is that those albums are both about a decade old. Reading this thread, I figured this was some new band. And listening to clips of them, I thought they were some sort of copiers of the Bright Eyes sound.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.
They are very well respected off this forum, even if not many people have heard of them in this country. I know Michael Stipe and Karen O are both massive fans.
You can take that Bright Eyes comment back though Coasty. Bright Eyes are shite, despite what my girlfriend says. Anyway I am pretty sure NMH were around first, but I could be wrong.

Your girlfriend rules, homers. I bet she hates the movie "Airplane," too. So, does she like "Aeroplane," the NMH album?
(Talk about weird thread synchronicity.)

this is the funniest thing i've read all week.
also, go with aeroplane, if i would have gotten avery island first, i would have never liked nmh. i can't stand that "pree sisters swallowsing a donkeys eye" song. i wasted a good 14 minutes of my life listening to that, only to find it's the most annoying thing on the face of the earth. the rest of the album is good though.

Well when I put them on in the car not long ago, she asked me who they were and said she really liked them. Although not because she thought they sounded like Bright Eyes.

Emo? Emo? You see Coasty, THIS is why I don't post more than x and y in the song thread.

Listened to it yesterday Brilliant record, should get the other one too
How about some Olivia Tremor Control? Great bandname (among the lines of the best band name ever) Sound just like White Album-era Beatles. I definately need to buy some of their cd's

Neutral Milk Hotel were an amazing band, it seems like everyones reforming these days so fingers crossed. Most of the Elephant 6 bands are pretty great, Olivia Tremor Contol, Circulatory System and the Apples in Stereo are definatly worth a listen. |

Yeah, Of Montreal often get counted as e6. They're in the "extended family" according to http://www.elephant6.com/bands.html
I'm a big Neutral Milk Hotel fan. I even do a fansite.. if I may plug: http://neutralmilkhotel.org/
