Hello everybody.

As I've been reading info about Frank Black recent shows, setlist and that and I see that nobody has posted any info related to the show in Bilbao, I feel that I must. So I've registered ;)

I cannot remember the complete setlist in order but here we got tha acoustic part which was awesome and really full of Pixies songs which I didn't expect at all. They played 6 songs this way and opened with "Cactus", then he played "Velouria" (again said "hey, it's Kim Deal lol). Later he started "Vamos" and stopped it in the middle saying "oh, fuck this song" to play "Where is my Mind?" inmediately. "Headache" ended the acoustic part.

Then the electric set, I can say that they played not in order:
Abstract Plain
Freedom Rock
Rockafeller Skank (with the drum sex scene)
Black Rider
Lolita
Los Angeles
Tight Black Rubber
Thalassocracy
Your Mouth Into Mine
You Can't Break A Heart And Have It
Threshold Apprehension
Ten Percenter
Massif Central
Captain Pasty
Robert Onion (this I believe, was the last)

And more that I didn't recognise/remember. If I get a proper setlist I'll put here.

Great show, great attitude, no encores, no stops, really intense. I feared that some of the audience were cold because, you know, lot of people expect for some strange reason to see the Pixies, but it was a great show. I'm glad I assisted, I had never followed Black's solo career but he really rocked. The band made several photos, so I felt it was special for them, maybe compared to the previous spanish shows.

Sorry if my english is not 100% ok.

PS: Now I've got to go... Mudhoney is playing tonight, two of my favourite 90's Gods in two days. :D

Your English is better than fine, and Welcome! I’m always a little, only a little, amused at the focus on the attitude, or interpretation of same, of Frank and/or the audience. It’s been my pleasure to share space with Frank or the Pixies fourteen times and of course he’s been The Man from “dancing bear” to “surly”, but everytime the show has been everything I could have wanted, to the point that each time I’ve wondered whether that wasn’t the best show ever (the best for me is still the first one, Reno ‘99). Everytime. It’s really pretty shocking to think about how consistently he’s deployed, at least to my ears, truly great shows in eight different cities and venues. Truly! Despite what I’ve sometimes read, I can’t imagine Frank putting on anything other than a quality show. You got the acoustic opener and the new line-up. I envy all of you that. Last year a few of us got to see the FMRM band. The last three years have really been an embarrassment of riches for a Frank fan. Thanks for the report.

Hi,
I was in Bilbao too. Good show...but it seemed that frank did a tour over all the bars in bilbao before the show. He had some problems to keep on vertical...

Hahaha, much probably. I know that he took his time to know spanish gastronomy, so probably some wine came with it.

Great to see that video... you can see that it was impossible to sing along (which we were hungry for) because he was always changing the time and making stop. How frustrating!
