just waiting on clearance from the powers that be. then it'll be ready for upload.
quote: WHAT DOES IT MEAN IF A CONCERT IS 'WAITING FOR CLEARANCE'?
This means we are waiting for the record label, management or artist to approve and release a recording. Usually, this does take no longer than a week. Unfortunately there are exceptions in which clearance takes more time.
hopefully the one we want is not an exception. |

I can't wait to see Frank wipe sweat off his forehead and underbelly and swipe it at my girlfriend directly beneath him again. :) |

This seems to have gone from waiting for clearance to waiting for encoding, Good news, will expect to be streaming it soon. Ah a special night indeed. |

i wonder how long it'll be til this is up. i'm doing a test run for downloading the stream. trying out a low show on fabchannel. so far just under 40mins in and it's a 240MB file. but i am very curious as to how the quality will be...ie is it watchable on dvd or not?
all i can say, thank god for polio! brian |

the link isn't up yet. as soon as it is, i'm sure someone will post it here.
now just trying to find a program that'll convert the flv file to something more watchable. found something which does it, but it dies after a minute or so. hopefully by the time the frank show is up and available i'll have figured it out.
all i can say, thank god for polio! brian |

after a fair bit of searching i found one that seems to work very well. it's called replay media catcher http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm
i then downloaded a cracked version from demonoid (naughty me!) and after some fiddling got it to work. you can try the software out for free but it only lets you do 5minutes or something which was of no use to me. you need to have the program running before you open the page that's got the embedded video or else it won't start. the video will be a .flv extension which is a flash video file extension.
the low one i downloaded was a 400MB file for a 90min concert.
and it seems to even work well when the video pauses due to bandwidth issues. when i checked my copy the video was flawless and no pauses. very nice.
all i can say, thank god for polio! brian |

that programm saved my life...
i discoverd it about 2 or 3 months ago... there are some very cool concerts on fabchannel, such as 2 therapy shows, nikola sarcevic, millencolin, bloc party and others....
that programm is indeed the best way to save the streams, but if you want to have it on dvd as mpeg2 format it will be like hell! the video and audio streams of the video-file will be out of synch! but there's a way of how to handle this too! after a few months i finally found a way to do it, if anyones interested... but it's a lot of work to make a dvd out of it. although it's worth it.
by the way, how's the show? haven't seen it yet... |

hi gapu,
i'm very very interested. i've tried quite a few ways with several pieces of software and they all produce out of synch results. so if you know a way to get decent results, fire away please.

if you're using adobe premiere for editing and encoding to dvd format, there are flash video import plug-ins for it- www.flash-video-mx.com/flv_importer/ or www.flvsoft.com/flv_importer/
but i wouldn't go processing the flash video further, i use vlc player to watch "intact" flv clips

adobe premiere is pretty shite, if you ask me... i use only free softwares and some that are cracked... but anyway, it's funny cause these are mostly such small programs and i always manage to get better results with them than with any other software that costs 400 or more... like premiere!
but anyway, here's my guide to convert flv-streams from fabchannel. yes, fabchannel's flv streams are different than any other flv streams that i've seen up to now!!! but don't worry, you're just 4 steps away from happiness:
1. Convert *.flv with Total Video Converter to mpeg
2.1. Record audio from original flv stream (wich any recording software such as audacity, or the nero wave editor...) 2.2. OR use FLVExtract and convert the mp3 file that the program creates into mp2 (-> might work as well.. haven't tried it yet)
3. convert audio file from step2 into mp2 (ATTENTION: if the video will end up on a dvd you have to convert it into 48Hz, not 44Hz!). i always use SUPER (a superb program!) to convert into mp2. after you've done all the settings click on the "convert"-button. it will ask which header it should use, select "mp2 header" then.
4. Multiplex elementary streams (that's the video file you've created with TOTAL VIDEO CONVERTER and the mp2-file that you've created... in most cases i use TMPGENC, a nice program, to multiplex elementary streams. if you use that program start it, click onto file -> mpeg tools -> simple multiplexing)
5. Done!
here are the programs that you need... (and cracks...!) upps, it wasn't me: TOTAL VIDEO CONVERTER: http://www.zdnet.de/downloads/prg/9/9/en10429299-wc.html TOTAL VIDEO CONVERTER SERIAL: http://newcracks.net/d.php?j=193693
FLV EXTRACT: http://www.moitah.net/download/latest/FLV_Extract.zip
SUPER: http://www.zdnet.de/downloads/prg/4/7/de10412747-wc.html
TMPGENC: http://www.chip.de/downloads/c1_downloads_hs_getfile_v1_16082716.html?t=1184748644&v=3600&s=3b592aaaea17d2f23c5d518f59b305bb (if it doesn't start automaticaly, click onto the "zum download" button)
OK, that should work... that guide is something like the holy bible for video-editor... and i believe there are very very few people in the world that were able to convert fabchannel flvs to any other video format!!! and best thing about it, i found it out myself, ok i needed 2-3 months till i finally found a way, but i am proud of it!
if you have any question, just ask! :)
does anyone know how long it will take till fabchannel will add the show onto their online archive? it's not up there yet and i havent seen it yet. what is the setlist like? |

i've been using them also in my previous attempts, with no good results.. but it also depends on how to use them and combine all of these to get what you want!
it will work! trust me! GOOD LUCK |

hi gapu,
i tried your way, but i still get synch problems. i think the main reason i'm having problems is that i'm using a 99min long flv file and everything is just finding it too difficult to difficult to deal with. but i will continue trying.

oh, yeah.. i forgot about something.
have you recorded the audio stream with a recording software? i hope so.... i guess you have saved it as wav? ....good!
then load the mpeg file into VirtualDub and then click audio -> wav audio and load the wav file! then click audio -> interleaving... with that function you have to set the audio into the right start position, so that it is synchron!!! then go to the beginning of the video and click on the button thats next to last (at bottom), go to the end of the video and click onto the last button. then choose -> file -> save wav.... then covert the new saved wav into mp2... and use that one for multiplexing!
that should work! because if you record the audio it's got the right lenght! if you use the mp3 file that will be created from flvextract it won't have the right lenght!!! that's the idea behind recording the audio while the video is playing! |

Yep, i was there, without doubt one of the top 3 gigs i've ever seen. I've seen alot of gigs, this was a real treat. Really great acoustic intro, i probably would have picked those to hear acoustic given an opputunity before hand. Starting on abstract plain was just awesome.

Thanks fbc, nice to have this to carry around and rock out to.
As much as I love the new band, when you haven't got the manic visual aspect, something is missing, you know, guitar just doesn't have quite so much presence.
Some killer solos from Charles Normal, though! I think it's the best version of 'You Can't Break a Heart and Have It' that I've heard, and there certainly have been some brilliant versions. |

fbc, what is the mp3 encoded at? just cause the original stream is 112k mp3 and if you grab the .flv stream file you can extract the mp3 file directly from that in it's original form, and that can be uploaded with no transcoding required.

320 kbps. I just grabbed the audio while it was playing using some app and it spat it out as an AIFF file.
Your way seems much more efficient. I'm going to try it later |
