We drank this one last night.
It's called The Prisoner, made by Orin Swift, a small winery in California. It's predominantly zinfandel with a dash of cabernet sauvignon and syrah blended in. We like it very much, and felt fortunate to find it on the closeout rack at the store the other day. This one was a 2004. We had an '03 a couple years ago at a restaurant, and it was the best wine I'd ever tasted. (Granted, I've never spent more than $70 on a bottle of wine, and I'm sure every French forum member could pick a million that are better.)

Sorry to ruin the myth but despite being French, I don't know shit about wines. That said, I had a Madiran for lunch that tasted pretty good.

I'm not a big wine drinker, but I like red. Goes lovely with steak. Boy, listen to the connoisseur. And yes I did have to Google connoisseur to spell it properly.

Reminds me of the day we went to a fish restaurant and asked the waiter for some wine recommendation, and he thought about it deeply and said "Well... I see you all ordered fish... I'd recommend you to get a white wine". Whoa, thanks dude!
I like spanish wines. Marques de Cazeres. See whore? I don't entirely hate everything spanish.

Marques de Cáceres Gran Reserva seems to be the Ferrari of spanish wines from what I've heard. From the ones you can actually afford, I mean.

Red wine is my default alcoholic drink. Probably drinking a bit more than I should but what the hell - I've compensated by rowing a bit further on my rowing machine.
Usually buy in bulk from this lot:

As mentioned in a recent thread we drank a bottle of this last month:
South African Tulbagh Mountain Syrah Mourvedre. £19 for a bottle which means it's a rare purchase. Very very good though.
Another fab Syrah Mourvedre which is easier on the bank balance:
Novas (Chile) - £9/bottle.
This thread has promise although will probably be frustrating because some of the wines will not be available here. Coasty - the Orin Swift Zinfandel looks bloody good.

I tried some wine at the Olive Garden. I did not like it at all. Come to find out it was a dry wine.
I don't like dry wine.
Every now and then, I go to the liquor store in search of some wine. There are too many to choose from and I end up just forgetting about it.
It's not you I don't like

Do try to get your hands on a bottle, BB. Even if you just sniffed it in the glass and then didn't drink it, you'd still become intoxicated. And then to drink it ... oh, it hits the sweet taste buds (my kids say "taste bugs") in the front and then cascades back to the sour ones at the back. And the way the grapes cling to the side of the glass as you swirl it ... . I swear, it's a religious experience.

near my little town. I only recently found out it was there!
I love the 'Monk's Blackberry' wine.

The Chardonnay was fantastic. I know Oregon is know for their Pinots, but I ordered some chard right when I got home. Their Cab was great as well. At the tasting, they weren't pouring any Pinots, so I can't comment on those. But if you want a Chardonnay that smacks you in the face and dares you to put it down, give it a try!
I'm spoiled living in California and get kind of jaded on wines. I usually only buy from the wineries, stuff you can't get in stores.
For every day, I just drink Louis Jadot Beaujolais or Beaujolais Villages. Sue me.

Wolfblass Eaglehawk Cabernet Savignon is quite nice, I find you can't really go wrong as long as you don't buy too cheap. I also tend to avoid French red wines, as the cheaper French stuff is "dog piss" because apparently the French keep the good stuff for themselves, or so I've heard many a time.

Nope, we can get good French wines in the US. They only sell the "dog piss" to the UK ;)

As an American you clearly don't know what good wine is, so that's a bit of a moot point :-p
I'm talking about the cheaper/affordable ranges of wine, generally other countries you get more for your money than French wines, it's like just because it's French they can knock the price up a bit because people go "oooh, it's French, it must be good." but no, it isn't.
