www.kantarmusic.com
the site has tons of info and some videos also check out http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kantara
I get to see them play tomorrow night. It's kind of odd because 3 of the guys in the band are my friends little brothers who we used pick on all the time adn steal their weed. The others are from Tunisia, and then there is Ann Marie, drool. Lately she has been doing a bit of touring with Jethro Tull and recording with Steve Via. They're all lucky to know me of course.
It's totally amazing what they're doing, much of which transcends music altogether. The world needs a lot more groups like this one. I urge you to check out their stuff and if they come to your part of the world go see them.

The concert was utterly beautiful, thought provoking, and completely inspiring. Has anyone checked out the website or the youtube? There are 4 songs you can download from their website, somebody check it out. Free ipods and canned meat.
Obviously there is a great divide between Arabs and Americans. To generalize, there is a geat fear between both, a fear that obviously leads to aggression and possibly hatred from both sides. the Arabic word Kantara translates to Bridge in English, obviously there is an intentional symbolism there.
Arab Appalachian music. How cool is that. Middle Eastern Bluegrass. as I would put it. I've never witnessed anything like it.
The thing that has really struck me that I have actually witnessed a group, a type of music that creates a bridge between 2 cultures that seem impossible to join. My enthusiasm for this music is not necessarily specefic to this amazing music, but moreso of how real and amazing I've felt witnessing this experience, the bridge of cultures through music, right before your eyes or ears. This is no joke.
I can only imagine the possiblities from here. The most radical combinations of cultures, new breeds of music and cultures we few of us could ever comprehend. Imagaine the possiblities. If anything, Kantara prove this is real, this bridge of cultures is real.
Russian American, Chinese Italian, Thai Mexican, the possibilities are endless, and not only that, they're completely possible, as evident from Kantara. Whoever replies to this topic first wins a free ipod.
I may seem to be completely redundant. I'm just so excited about this. I'm not promoting this to make you look at me, I just want to know if anyone can hear me, and if anyone else can get inspired by this great idea, and this fucking most beautiful music. Somebody respond, please.
We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. |

No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God George Bush snr |
