Nice find, Trobriali. I'm racking my brain here, but what songs on "Bluefinger" have keyboards? Sez on this guy's site that FB played "ALL the Guitar, Keys, and even Harmonica."
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

trobriananders, very interesting....
Here's the info from his website:
Produced an album for FRANK BLACK...
If some of the folks in my "fan-base" don't already know who Frank Black is, he started the alternative rock band, "The Pixies" using the stage name "Black Francis" then continuing on with the name, "Frank Black" after The Pixies broke up. No matter what name he has gone by, he's had a 20 yrs. plus career making some of the greatest rock music you could ever listen to.
The recording session was a blast and "The Man" took me to school on how it's done. He's the 'real thing' and it was a pleasure to work with him on this.
It's gonna be called "BLUEFINGER" by "BLACK FRANCIS." That's right, he's going back out with the name he started his career with.
Black Francis of course, sang, played ALL the Guitar, Keys, and even Harmonica, Dan Schmid on Bass, Jason Carter on Drums, and Ms. Violet Clarke on backing vocals. I sang some backing vocals and played cowbell because that's what producers do.
The album is coming out this September. I hope you all go out and get a copy.
The single "Threshold Apprehension" is out now on Itunes.
Someone asked me if I took photos. I didn't, I was too busy drinking coffee and being astounded but I did hire a famous Dutch painter to come in and illustrate the entire session as it happened.

Also, FRANKBLACK.NET has lots of info, and a good podcast about the Man.

I think TA has keyboards in the latter part.

I must say BF does a great job on harmonica. Only a few short bursts here and there, but they are perfect!

Really?! I remember an MTV interview some years ago when he was asked does he play any other instruments, and he said he composes some songs on harmonica! He even did a funny little harmonica noise! |
