this is a question mainly for the frenchies here.. what do you guys think of your 35 hour working weeks? i know they're in the process of watering it down, but how's it all been? i can see difficulties in only being able to work 35 hours depending on your hourly rate, but did employers increase the hourly rate when it came in so employees ended up taking home the same amount of pay roughly or was it left the same so they ended up with less?
but then again, only working 35 hours would be fantastic.... me, i do a 48 hour week. but thats averaged out over a 2 week period. in the 1st week i do 84 hours, but only 12 in the 2nd week.
all i can say, thank god for polio! brian |

You work 84 hours one week then 12 the next? Cos you're pooped I guess. Sounds like you're freelance like me. Choose your own hours, turn down jobs if you like and everyone treats you nice. If you're working a regulated 35 hour week I guess it's good too. Sounds civilised. I'd stay working freelance though. Independance.

I don't know how you do it, Isaac. I worked 12 hours today, and I'm fucking dead. I'm drinking a bunch of beer to clear my head. Anything past eight hours is brain damage for me.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

well it's tough cohen, but ya just gotta think about the 6 days off at the end....that is honestly the only thing that keeps you going... to add insult to injury, the travel is a bastard too. so i leave home at 4.50am and get home at 6.45pm. if the travel wasn't so bad it'd be a piece of piss.
work used to allow drinking on the bus home - the driver used to go down to the pub with the order taken in the morning and buy a shitload of bottles, but they banned that last year....just before i started working there to boot. caused quite an uproar actually...as you could imagine.

at a gold mine.
but us geologists are on the best roster of anyone working there. we don't do night shifts, which lots do, and they're on 4 days, 4 nights, 4 off of 12 hour days....
i've done the mon-fri 9 to 5 thing and i actually quite liked that, but 8/6 is good too...will be good when benji junior arrives.

i've had a 5x12h this week and, though it's not too much, i wouldn't want it always that way, i prefer a more sustainable daily life
a teacher in high school once talked about an amazon tribe that worked only 2h a day and were spending the rest of their time being happy and i thought what the fruit am i still doing here, in school

Or just reading my emails, which is much easier than actually coming up with those genius witticisms myself.
