These threads have tended to run wild in the past, but let's give it another shot. This time, you have to explain why you like a particular lyric. You can post as much or as little of a song as you like, but you MUST justify your choice, not just say that you like it.
So without further ado:

REM - I Remember California
This song seems to me the height of REM's wistful, nostalgic kind of song. It almost evokes a kind of 50's, nuclear family, cold war as distant threat, girls with big skirts kind of atmosphere. It's one of my favourite REM songs for that reason. Sigh. We all remember stuff.

It just kills me that this incisive gem was dreamt up and scibbled on napkins by some scrawny waitress scratching by. And sure Tom Waits fell in love with her around then. I can see that.

Written by Mark Burgess a couple of months after John Lennon's murder. Nothing fancy but I think it evokes the tragic pointlessness of Chapman's actions. One minute you are famous and alive and walking along a New York street, the next you have 4 bullets in you with your life blood draining away.
Whenever I listen to this song I'm transported back to 1980 and the shock I felt when his murder was announced on the news.

i love it cause my wife is quite short and i'm quite tall, so whenever we cuddle or hug, she has to stand on tippy toes and hence the song.

The world must have really sucked before this song was written -- somewhere between 1893 and 1935. I bet they didn't even have birthdays back then.
