Right, so I'd like to pretend I'm not bothered when I see someone mildly famous, but it's the recognition thing that gets me a little excited for some reason. I reckon it stems from being brought up in a middle-of-nowhere town in the Midlands. The most exciting person I ever heard of living close by was Alexei Sayle.

Anyway, I spotted Jeremy from Peep Show up in Kilburn last saturday, and it got me wondering whether any of you here see anybody in particular quite regularly?

Some nonce from Big Brother often comes in the shop I work in in Kingston, SW London. Maxwell's his name. I've also seen Jacqueline Wilson around; she lives here apparently. Neither of these excited me particularly. In fact seeing the Big Brother fellow has gone from mild novelty to outright annoying, because he's everywhere. Especially Sainsburys.

One thing that was exciting was when Colin Montgomery came into my shoe shop and I served him. That was fairly ace. He was after Ugg boots for his daughter. I let him down, we didn't have her size. He's no regular though, unfortunately.

I saw Kevin Spacey in the airport in Hawaii once. He was pretty much daring someone to recognize him, but I didn't have anything to say so I left him alone. What are you supposed to say: "Hey are you Kevin Spacey?" "Yes" "Oh, thought so." Uncomfortable silence....

I also saw the guy that plays "Ben" on Lost in the airport. Creepy looking dude.

Saw Jean Jaques Burnell once at a service station. Was playing bass in a band at the time and as I was heavily influenced by him was suitably starstruck.

We saw wordy wordy Will Self at the Roundhouse in Camden last night. He's every bit as ugly in real life.

And no one gave him a second look, the face-eating-sideburn-wearing goon.

Idiot.

I've encountered Julian 'Howard Moon' Barratt a couple of times, once in City Cafe in Edinburgh the day after the Mighty Boosh show, my gf was still wearing the Mighty Boosh t-shirt, he noticed but we were too chicken to speak to him, plus he seemed to be getting drunk on his own so didn't really want to intrude!

Then a few weeks later we were in London waiting for a bus, one pulled up, and he was on it! I said (I was drunk, so it was more like a shout) "there's Howard Moon" whilst pointing in his direction, he must have heard, he gave us a 2 finger salute (victory side).

The other day during the Camden Crawl we were sat opposite Simple Kid too.

That's about it apart from people from bands in Big Hands after gigs in Manchester.

Oh and Jack Dee walking through Manchester near Picadilly, with big shades on, a cap and appeared to be chatting to himself (turned out he had a bluetooth headset on), he stood out a mile anyway, as it wasn't a sunny day, and he looked super grumpy.

Mentioned this before, but I worked in a hotel shop and seen a couple of celebrity folk. Served Marianne Faithfull a couple of times, she was very nice, Sinead O' Connor, Ex-Boyzone/Corrie star Keith Duffy, the Dubliner's Ronnie Drew (he's a regular around here, my Dad used to live near him), politician John Hume would drop in sometimes, have a look at the papers and make small talk. The late Progressive Unionist Party leader David Irvine cam in once, because he couldn't get his brand of cigarettes, he joked "You saw us coming!" Also, Shane McGowan came in once and at first I honestly thought he was a tramp.

The only autographs I can remember ever getting are from Jeff and Ken from Carcass, Terry Pratchett (twice) and Big Brother winner Brian and fellow housemate Penny a few years ago (I was with someone who needed to get autographs/pics for a relative, so I just joined in the fun, honest!!).

Bumped into Fish of Marillion on State Street in Santa Barbara sometime late on in the last century.

He didn't appear to be overly pleased to meet me.

Watched John Parrot, Jimmy White and another snooker celeb spill out of a large car in a service station on the M1 once. They'd obviously run out of Werthers mints.

Nick Cave walked right in front of me at a Finsbury Park gig in 93 - he looked like a man on a mission.

I've had a very exciting celeb spotting life so far.

I love it when he turns English.

The only celeb I have seen regularly is Richard Wilson. At Old Trafford.

Hah. Ah go on Ted. I'm certain that's a very good idea. Or some such.

I've forgotten another I see regularly: Lil Chris. He's always tearing up the streets around here, the little terror.

Sean Bean, seen him twice once on the kop and once at an away game at Tranmere Rovers. Both times he was sat with the fans, not sure he does it anymore. My brother actually got his autograph for some blokes wife, when he asked if he had a pen and my brother daid no he hit him on the head with a programme, seems a decent bloke, people were queing at half time for his autograph. For those who dont know he supports the same football team.

I heard later that day he was doing some show here (must've been something like the Dirty Sanchez shows) He looked very casual

I have to say, he walked a bit funny. But i guess that's the way you walk when you get hit in the balls for a living

I saw a man in town the other day playing a flute. It looked like The Edge from U2, but probably wasn't. Okay, definitely wasn't.

Hmm, maybe there's a celeb lookalike spotting thread somewhere on here? I do regularly see Frank Black in the video shop. Well, it's just a big bald guy, but I calll him Frank Black.

This sort of felt like a celebrity siting. I am not really sure if this happenned, because I was too stoned. I have since basically stopped smoking. Anyway, this was during the Bend, OR Pixies concert, but I think during the show Black Francis got off the stage, and walked around the crowd. I was towards the back so I couldn't say anything. It felt like a dream. Anyone else see this?
