Firstly, I'd like to say, I've been in China for the last three years and haven't had the chance to see the Pixies live- and yes I am absolutely gutted about that. However, I think it's pointless for them to continue playing and playing the same material. I got into Pixies and FB about eight years ago, and although it may sound strange, them playing so much kind of takes away their mystery and magic. I would love them to play more Trompe Le Monde but if they are never gonna play any new material that only has a certain mileage. Why not just quit while you're ahead instaed of becoming your own tribute band? |

Yes, but we don't tell newbies. Try again when you've got more posts.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

No. They can't even communicate properly according to loudQuietloud, so how in the hell are we suppose to believe they'll actually write an album together. They're disfunctional, and the only material from Frank Black we'll hear are collabs with other musicians.
In other words, they're too immature to actually accomplish anything big together, IMHO. |

Fuck me, you sound like myself! This is exactly like something I said a few weeks ago. In fact, its so early I am half convinced that someone is taking the piss out of me.
Where abouts do you live in China? Do you live in Beijing? Well, you are obviously a Brit judging from your 'English Devil' display name.
I agree with what you are saying. For them to continue then they should at least have some new material, or play a varied set.

Sonic Youth play here on Monday... never heard any Sonic Youth before but might have to check it out.
Harbin, thats where I got married. Great place, especially in the winter with the ice festival. My wife is from near Mudanjiang, which is not so far away from Harbin.
Yeah, I live in Beijing. Been here for 5 years and will probably be here for a while. Just do teaching part time and some web design... that's about it really. How about you?

Yeah you should check out SY. They're my favourite band, and are excellent live. I wish I could go down and watch em but am working. Am the Director of a School here so don't have much time to travel apart from national holidays. Yeah Mudanjiang isn't far at all |

Cool, I'll check them out. National hols here are dreadful aren't they! Luckily I have no such responsibility so I can just take hols when I want.

Oh yeah, you should check out Sonic youth live. It may not be the best show you've ever seen, but you'll certainly remember it! They'll do some stuff that'll make you go "what the fuck?" Guitar jack solo is my favorite. Using pulling the guitar cord in and out of the jack to make noise. Who does that? And it's kind of in tune!

I got it right away... I need to remember more lines in that movie. It's one movie where every line that Swayze comes out with is laughable. Pure cheese with lashings of class!

I got it right away too. But I one-upped you. My kid's middle name is "Dalton" and I assure you it's no coincidence :)
Pain don't hurt.
Did anyone listen to the Kevin Smith commentary on the DVD? Hilarious.

I remember someone threatening to carve Dalton some 'faggot wings' (although I might be mistaking this for Heartbreak Ridge). Also the bit where the guy lets another guy feel his birds' tits for cash but the guy cannot afford to pay for the experience... and a fight kicking off as a result.
This is a movie I need to see again!

THAT IS BS, I have watched loudquietloud although its fun to watch, its total movie magic- the film was supposed to be entertaining, documentaries just exadurate any conflict they can to make things interesting. i have read many frank black interviews and he and his fellow band mates where very unhappy with the way the movie portraid there relationships.
there a hundred reasons why they may or may not make a new album just wait and see

That's great but floop needs to know if there actually will be a new album.
I'm sorry floop that these people are just not listening to you.
I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place

I got into Pixies about 13 years ago. They have always been one of my favorite bands. I always wanted to see them live. Seeing them in Bend, Oregon 2004 was monumental. I remember thinking that their material was so classic that they could keep touring with it and it would never get old. I would check in every year!!!!!!!!! |
