Carl, do you have any articles on Oofty Goofty? You'll have to dig deep -- he lived in the late 19th century.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Whether it's factual or not, friggin' Wikipedia has an entry for damned near everything.

Did you used to trust the Wikipedia, remig? I don't think it's become any less (or more) trustworthy. I think it's a very valuable source of information. There was a great article in the New Yorker about it last year, talking about the integrity of its entries. I don't know if it's online, but you might look around for it. No, you can't take the Wikipedia as gospel, but it's surely better than doing a plain old Google search and believing the first thing that pops up. Google has brought a world of information to us via the web, but it's a real mess. As the New Yorker article said, the Wikipedia came along and cleaned up the neighborhood. I use the Wikipedia for cultural references mostly. I wouldn't use it, though, to look up topics that are commonly disputed, and I wouldn't look there to answer a medical question, but I'd certainly go straight to the Wiki if I wanted to know what countries border Morocco or what albums Bruce Springsteen has put out. You're right to be skeptical, remig, but I think there are certainly things you can use the Wiki for without worrying about it being wrong.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Yeah, there really is an Oofty Goofty. Ah, Wiki.
I thought it might be a new Goofy cartoon show, where he repeatedly gets punched in the stomach and goes "Oof!" |

Yeah, I could not resist the temptation. I looked it up on wiki too. It is there. I felt foolish looking up oofty goofty, though.

some info on oofty Her fame increased. Imitators sprang up. In fact, one of these was Big Bertha, the circus fat lady who had played Juliet opposite Oofty Goofty's Romeo at the Bella Union. Big Bertha played Mazeppa in pink tights, strapped to the back of a donkey. But one night the donkey, with huge Bertha astride him fell over the footlights into the theater pit, and the career of Bertha as Mazeppa ended. http://www.sfmuseum.org/bio/adah.html
