I am terrible at expressing myself, but i have to make this post. This last year has been very strange for me, and has been the lowest point in my life. Your music means so much to me, and incase i never get the opportunity to meet you in person, i just have to say thankyou Frank. |

Hey, 2Strings. Welcome to the forum. Frank's music has helped me get through some pretty tough times, and the same goes for a lot of other folks on this forum. It's a wonderful community here, and I hope to see you around the forum.

Welcome, 2Strings. Like prozacrat says, Frank Black's music means a lot to a lot of us. For me, the album "Honeycomb" was one of the pieces of fabric that helped hold me and my marriage together during the year after it came out. I couldn't even begin to thank Frank Black enough for that. But it does help to air it here.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

i've got to thank frank as well! it may sound stupid but frank seems to get a more and more important place in my life, and so sometimes it feels like he is my 40year old brother who's always there when i need him! the more i listen to his music, the more i read his lyrics, the more interviews i read... the more i get to know him. sure, you can't say 100% how a person is in real life, but there are some 'stars' where you really believe that you know who they are. that these persons don't play just a show. that they do not change their character when they are on stage. and i think its the same with frank. his is REAL. and i think some true fans do also feel that. you can't tell the same for any other stars... at least extremely rarely!
and for that i like to thank you, frank! ...and of course for the wonderful music :)
THANK YOU, FRANK BLACK! |

About three years ago I could have made the exact same post.
Only at first I didn't even know a place like fb.net existed. And after I discovered it and eventually began posting, I never came around to doing it.
So props to you, 2Strings, and welcome. |

Hey 2strings, I, like these other great FB fans, can relate. During Frank's recent tour I was going through a difficult end of a long relationship and the 2 shows I saw in October were complete Godsends. I got to meet some cool forum members and watch Frank and his band just rip. Frank's music is one of many great treasures in life and I took that vibe and never looked back. Whether it be mental or physical, I hope you are on the mend. |

Thanks, everybody, and especially to 2strings for starting the thread! I think we all agee that at times life is just awful, and that one of the great joys in life is music, which seems to work no matter how awful the living part is.

I remember being very sad after the ending of a relastionship, and at the same time "Show me your tears" came out. I was thinking: "he's beside me". So I would like to take the opportunity to thank Frank for the song "everything is new", and for keeping it real through all those years and the years to come. Thank you
2Strings, what a first post! It's coming from the heart, like Franks musik. So I hope that everything is new for you now..:-) |

I credit Frank's "Black Letter Days" and Paul Westerberg's "Stereo/Mono" with saving my life during my darkest period.
Thanks, Mr. Black. My best friend and I still drive around aimlessly for hours with your music, as those times are sometimes the closest we feel to existing. |

Jeez, I hope 2Strings saw -- or will see -- that The Man replied. It'd be a shame if he (she?) poured out his heart like that and never found out the love was returned.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

OK, I was going through chemotherapy when "Dog In The Sand" was released and I beat cancer. So Frank's music cures cancer. I listened to it during my IV drip sessions for four months. It's been six years or so now.

Frank Black is the Lance Armstrong of the music world. Inspiring in so many ways, but feels like he could be your next door neighbor at the same time.
Speaking of which, my parents recently retired to Eugene and I'm going to visit there in a few months. I wonder which coffee shops FB hangs out in?? I keep telling the 'rents to look out for Frank Black and they keep telling me they haven't seen him around town yet. I don't think they believe he exists.

FB stalker alert! Seriously though, I'm glad no one of note lives in my town. No doubt anybody of merit would have departed short of that threshold. Upon reflection, it's surprising we haven't had more random Frank sightings. Frank would seem to be a man on schedule, relentlessly and almost without fail, but otherwise anonymous. Our kind of guy.

totally off topic but
that's funny how lance seems to be a net door guy in the us while in france he's perceived as an ice cold emotionless killig machine. frankly, during the first 5 Tours he won, lance was my god. so tactically intelligent and so much class. noblesse oblige, that kind of things. Then there were some doubts etc...

Jefrey -- I don't know whether FB hangs out there, but there are two really fantastic coffee shops in downtown Eugene called Full City. Best coffee drinks I've had anywhere. So even if you don't see The Man, you'll drink well.

So Frnk...is it inappropriate for fans to approach you in public? I mean, it's probably an awkward thing for everyone, but who wouldn't want to meet their favorite musician? What are you thoughts on this? Are there any rules?

Oh, thanks - my dad is an espresso afficianado, so I'll take him there if it's not already his usual dive.
And it's not stalking if I have a legitimate reason to be in Eugene ;)

Oh, let it go man. Whatever he did or didn't do, he has given millions of dollars to curing cancer, and has saved/inspired countless lives. Why continue to focus on tearing down a man that lives to help others?
How many millions has Virenque given to cure cancer? Everyone seems to have forgiven him. (For the record, I liked Virenque and always rooted for him. It sucks that characters like him and Ulrich won't be racing any more).

Hi,
Well that's refreshing to hear, because the only press we see in the USA from France about Lance Armstrong is lawsuit after lawsuit and book after book trying to prove he cheated and bring the man down.
Now I'm sorry I brought him up. It was supposed to be in the spirit of people like Frank Black that have inspired hope and saved people's lives by giving them the strength to want to go on living. Lance Armstrong has personally given me hope when I've had dark thoughts, and so I consider him to be a hero. It's certainly disappointing to think that he may have cheated, but I think it's even more disappointing that there are people obsessed with tearing down everything he stands for. Those people are not bringing light and hope to the world, only hate and misery.
