So I put some reggae on in the office, for a change, and Jimmy Cliff's ever-wonderful Many Rivers To Cross comes on. I love this song, it's beautiful in every way. But someone else pipes up, I don't like this, I have the Cher version on my iPod, it's much better. So after much skirmishing and a little iPod-hiding, Cher's version of Many Rivers To Cross is played.

Oh my word. Never have I heard a good song so defiled that it made me tense and twitchy to listen to it. It may well be the angriest a song has ever made me. I think this qualifies as an official Crime Against Music.

Any more?

I'm not going to get involved with (another) UB40 debate, but the Cure cover sounds pretty hideous.

on a related note
not really what this thread's title says but a disappointment for me anyway: R.E.M. with Thom Yorke stepping in for Patti Smith on E-bow the Letter. I wish they hadn't done it. It's probably my fault when I expect an already perfect song to be even better just because another of my fave bands' name is 'added'.

Surely it's physically impossible for Dion to even attempt a single note of an AC/DC song?! I'm astounded!

I'm not opening that link but is that the one where she mugs it up while playing air guitar? The horror is right.

Hahahahahahahaha. Carolynanna, you, Dean and Nardwuar are proof that Canada definitely has a good side as well. I can't talk crap. What city (country) is that performance actually taking place in anyway?

You know what? That clip is NOT that awful. Maybe I went into it with low expectations. Sure, she is the stupidest looking woman in show business, and the air guitar is ridiculous. But the song was entertaining, and her duck walk was surprisingly good, and she actually moves her hips very sexually. Who was the other chick, anyhow?

It's not that bad, quite entertaining I think. But for an AC/DC fan I know it can be disgusting.

This Anastacia girl's got some stunning abs, she works out for sure. Ahhhh... it's hard to be a pop star.
