Thanks for listening,
taco

Hello People, this is really an email to Frank, but I guess you guys can read it to.

Off an on again cult member but a steady listener of Frank and the Pixies. I recently read the Oregonian interview with Frank and was happy to hear he is living here in Portland, doing well and all that. I would love to see him locally but I am working too much. It would be great If he could put on a Saturday or Sunday show. So I could check it out. Also, I was wondering if he ever puts on benefit shows. Another Amerikan legend, Tre Arrow is having a hard time, but has been getting a lot of great help. Any more help would be a great cause. He is trying to get refugee status in Canada, for more information please checkout this webpage.

Thanks for listening,
Taco

Tre, along with dozens of other CFA members occupied trees in Area II and IV of the Acey Line Timber Sale. These dedicated environmentalists were living in ‘tree sits’ 100 feet above the ground. 'Tree sitting' is a very effective and peaceful tactic used to save trees. In October, 2001, The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF), along with Christian Futures and the State Police, launched an intense counter-campaign to remove the 'tree sitters'. They first removed all ground support, essentially stopping all supplies from reaching the demonstrators. The authorities then began training floodlights, music and wailing sirens to expose the individuals in the trees to an intense level of anxiety and sleep deprivation. Tre was one of the people they decided to target.

No offense, but this made me laugh for various reasons.

I just thought I would take a chance based on your connection to Tre Arrow. She is/was also a tree-sitter/activist from our fine area arrested in 2001 (if I remember right). She had just turned 18 (which agents had awaited so they could try her as an adult) and was sentenced to 4 months in a federal prison.

I don't personally know her, but I am friends with her mom ;-)

I understand that environmental activists are commiting acts of civil disobedience. My main concern is that the punishments are incommesurate with other crimes. I firmly believe that Tre is being made an example of to scare off the green movement Which is definitely needed because of the enviromental crisis we are in. It is not fare. I guess we have to remember to be lawful. But my best wishes go out to all people who have had to spend time in prison for trying to protect our planet.
