Not his best but in the top 5 and one of his most interesting. Take out the 3 mission songs and maybe Whispering Weeds and you have a string of vignettes about how men fail in relationships or how they react to the failures. The lovable but in the end, submissive failure of Chip Away Boy - the frightening stalker in Cold Heart of Stone - the useless dreamer pot head of True Blue - the self doubting, pride less bluster of I will Run After You - on and on in nearly every song.
Remembering what was going on in FB’s life at the time it makes a fascinating study.
My favourite FB album, mostly cause I got more of a kick of learning to play the songs than I did on other records. I love the lead work on How You Went So Far too. My favourites are Farewell Bend, True Blue and Jane.
What a great album! and it's soooo cool to cover some of the songs(my level isn't so good..). To be honest, Valentine and Garuda is the only song i can play(and sing) from beginning to end.
