Does anybody remember some article awhile back where an interviewer asked Frank some random questions about things that annoy him (and Frank actually gave detailed answers)? I remember he talked about condescending record store clerks and rock band stickers. He mentioned how his label or his management or somebody had once pressed up a bunch of Frank Black & the Catholics stickers (for promotion or sell at shows or whatever). Frank said that when he got them, he threw them all out. He was so tired of seeing rock band stickers all over the place when he'd play clubs every night and didn't want to be seeing HIS band's stickers all over, either.
Maybe this anti-advertisting attitude (see also "I've Seen Your Picture") was a part of why the Catholics stopped bothering with T-shirts.
Yes, I do remember that. I think it was from the magazine X-ray in September of 2003. A fantastic article. Kudos to you for remembering it, Jason. |

Nicely put, Frank. Thanks. But I guess I'll never again be the official "merchandise man of the Great Plains"
Ah well.

I have a shirt that i bought during the tour right before Frank Black and the Catholics came out. Its getting kinda old but it has the tribal guys across the front. Also, I remember they had really sweet shirts for sale during the Cult of Ray tour but they only had S when i went to get one, so i got a sticker instead. |

You should have gotten the shirt. ESPECIALLY if it was too small. Cause then you could give it to someone you find really attractive, if it fit them, and then they'd wear it and be even MORE attractive.
