I haven't followed what has happened in the CD Swaps and I wasn't about to read all the topics.

What is the status of #6, in the middle of, complete or nearing completion?

I have a few ideas.

I was thinking that this could be an interesting way to hear some local bands. When someone I know takes a trip I often ask them to go to some seedy looking record shop and ask for a copy of a good local band. This has been more miss than hit, a copy of a Throwing Muses CD (not a success to me, but I didn't have that particular one, I was looking for something new), The Swinging Bovines were interesting.

I will guess that some of the swaps have included local material, but has any been thematically local?

12 looks like a fairly large number to me, what has been the best scale? 12 x 6 is 72, is anyone swap-weary?

Could this become centralized? Designate a National Techie. The national techies could, through the magic of the internet, receive the global information and retransmit it locally. When you send your music you would include something to cover the local mailings.

I wonder how much could be done strictly online? I started to read the end #6, it mentions the PDF download, that's a very good idea for covers and liner-notes.

I also guess that the included information varies from sparse to quite elaborate?

On the topic of a local swap, I would very much like to be involved in a swap of this type, I can think of a large number of present and past bands that had maybe a little national recognition but wouldn't be known outside of Canada. Maybe it could include a few bands that are well known, maybe just to note the influence they had on the local scene.

This could also use hub and spoke organization, some of those indie bands' CDs are hard to come by and a group effort in one geographical area could make for a better disc.

It would take me some time to scrounge up some of the material I would want to put into such a compilation, I imagine this would involve a longer lead time than the previous swaps.

How long has it taken to put the CDs together? How much effort has gone into this?

Answers, comments and ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Well I would have no problem with my city, so I would be interested.

I dunno. I'd be interested, but I think locally all you'd get would be rap and Bruce Hornsby.
