Do you?
I'm looking for something to play online with/against a friend of mine. Not sure about the genre. But not chess, go, cards, etc... Something more along the lines of a computer game.
Any suggestions? |

Well, http://www.gsn.com has games you can play with other people. You just have to register and then find the person you want to play against. They're mostly online versions of game shows, though.
And I used to sometimes try to catch her, but never even caught her name... |

Thanks for that, mr.biscuitdoughhead. It's not exactly what I was looking for though. But when I searched a bit myself, it was only sites like this I came up with, too.
I was thinking more of fun little arcade or strategy games you could join or download and then play against each other. Along the lines of the xbox360's arcade games combined with a "live"-option, or so.

The thing I've spent the most time doing on the computer, although only infrequently in the last 10 years, was playing the game Empire (War Game of the Century), and I'm talking many months of actual time. These days I refuse to have any games on my computer.
They have an online version that is definitely not free (Empire Deluxe Internet Edition) but you may be able to find a free online version.
The last good internet game I played was "Flying Aces" or something like that, it was around for just a while. 50 biplanes in a dogfight! The grizzly veterans would shoot you down in seconds, I’m sure they were cheating! If you both had MS Combat (I think that's the name), also not free.
I got stuck on that kitten tossing game.
May I suggest that you learn (ethical) hacking and coding? It's so much more rewarding, something you can do with friends. I was never much of a hacker but programming is an outlet for creativity. |

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Will check them out when I'm at home tonight.
And hammerhands, I, too, spent many an hour playing Empire back in the days. What a nostalgia trip to see the oldscool graphic of the maps again. Cool! I can't believe they still charge 27$ for the game, though... |
