YORKE UPSET ABOUT PIXIES 'FEUD'
Sensitive RADIOHEAD frontman THOM YORKE was so upset by the way his 2004 Coachella Festival comments about the PIXIES were misconstrued he lost sleep for a month. The rocker feared he'd upset one of his favourite bands by complaining about headlining above them at the California desert concert - when he just wanted to make it clear that he thought the reunited Pixies should have been the top band on the bill. The CREEP singer admits the backlash after his comments almost led to him quitting Radiohead for good. Yorke says, "By the end of that, we'd completely lost interest and lost confidence. Part of the nail in the coffin for me, personally, was going on after the f**king Pixies. It's like going on after the BEATLES. "It was a massive big deal, and I really, really, really didn't want to do it. "It was an odd situation as well, because I think the Pixies misread it. They thought it was because we didn't like them. I lost sleep for a month." 01/08/2006 02:06

Im pretty sure thats not how they read the situation. Thom Yorke is always creaming his horn about how great the Pixies are, Im sure they've all seen him singing their praises on the Gouge documentary. Plus, there is no way his original comments could be taken out of context, it was a nice gesutre toward his boyhood heroes.
On another note, what does everyone think of The Eraser? Im really digiing it at the moment. At first I thought it was pretty shitty but it's definitely a grower.

I actually have an article somewhere (I must dig it up)...maybe MEAN STREET or BAM MAGAZINE from 1998...where I remember Frank actually saying he "doesn't get" the current music, and names Radiohead as one of the bands he finds boring. I'm paraphrasing, of course...this is all from fragmented recall...I will find it tonight and post the article tomorrow.

I could see finding more recent Radiohead boring (I don't) but circa 1998?? You will have to produce said article for me to believe. :)

There's nothing wrong in finding OK Computer boring. I do.

I read in a Rolling Stone a brief article where Frank was discussing Radiohead, and the one bit of constructive criticsm he gave was that he thought Thom could be a little less mumbly, so Frank could understand what he was saying a little better, or something to that effect.

In a Q from a few years back, Frank said that he liked Radiohead, but wished Thom would pronounce his words a bit more (a lot like prozacrat's post). I'll find the interview tomorrow.

Like prozocrat said in his post. Upon re-reading, it does look like I think prozocrat cyber-mumbles.

I apologize. I just had a surgery and have been heavily medicated, and can only type with one hand. My thoughts haven't been getting to the keyboard as easily as other people's lately. And seriousy, one period is more than enough for a post that long. Right?

How have I never seen that? I think that's the greatest YouTube thing I've ever seen. Frank doing an impression of Victor Meldrew; well, I don't believe it!
