I know this up in the site news, but this popped up in my inbox thanks to Google News Alerts, so I just thought I'd post it:

PETTY SIGNS OFF IN ARIZONA Movie & Entertainment News provided by World Entertainment News Network (www.wenn.com) 2006-07-08 10:35:18 -
LATEST: TOM PETTY will bid farewell to life on the road in Arizona after adding the final dates to his last US concert tour as the leader of THE HEARTBREAKERS. The FREE FALLIN' hitmaker shocked fans earlier this year (06) when he announced his 2006 dates would be his last just before confirming the first and second legs of what was to be his farewell tour. Petty has now added the third and final leg of the US trek, confirming JOHN MAYER, PIXIES frontman FRANK BLACK and THE STROKES as his support acts, and he'll wrap it all up with Mayer on 4 October in Phoenix. The new dates will include a stop at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles with The Strokes on 26 September (06) and a two-night stint with Frank Black at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California on 29 and 30 September (06). |

According to this interview on the news section of Petty's site...
quote: AP: Over the years, acts have proclaimed that this is their last tour but then go out on the road again ... is it safe to say that this may be your last tour?
Petty: Well, never say never (laughs). It might be the last really extended one. I didn't mean to imply that we were going to stop playing. Whether or not we'll continue to do the really long ones, that take up four or five months, I don't know.
AP: What is it about extended tours that you're leery of? Some people can be on tour all year long.
Petty: Well, I've done that all my life. I'm not weary of playing music, I'm a little weary of traveling that much, but it's not even that. It's just that I have so many recording projects I wanna do, going out for half of the year really eats into my time.

This is funny
A week before the anoucment of the Tom Petty and the HartBrakers are having FB open for them my wife made the comparison that no one know the heart breakers just like no one knows the Catholics she then said it would be cool if they switch front men and record a double album call FB and HB's and TP and the C's.
Who would of thought that the headline news on this web site would basicaly state the samthing.... my wife must have ESP.

I've been lucky to get 2 tickets for the concert at the Greek on 9/30...$150 for 2 sits in the back :-( Front sits at $85 a piece (+$10 fees) were invisible for sale... Anyway it will be great! Is FB going to be solo? I would prefer to see him with the Cathos ;-) |
