Just found this piece of information surfing the net randomly, searching my local cd-store for Pixies stuff. The Newport acoustic show is reported to be released on DVD by Eagle Vision. For more info check this out:
http://www.antimusic.com/news/06/june/2706.shtml
It's also listed with a cover on a swedish on-line music store, go to www.cdon.com, search for pixies. (Sorry, can't seem to get a link directly to the right page.)

Hello!
I didn't post any info on the Boston thing since I couldn't find a second source for that release. I guess we can only hope that this fall will see some (hopefully) cool Pixies releases.

The few songs I heard from the Newport gig were less than stellar. This milking the cash cow is getting annoying. I'll pass that release and wait for next year's remix CD...

I haven't seen the HD show, but I think that is the show at UMass Lowell that is featured on the Pixies DVD. I think the Boston Club DVD is one they shot at the secret show at the Paradise in Boston last August. A show I would have been at had I not just found out that I was losing my job so I wasn't surfing the net and doing my usual things which would have led me to the announcement of the secret show.

It's too bad to hear that the Newport show wasn't that great. I saw them in Albany at the Egg (I think it was their first acoustic show ever? It happened a couple days before Newport) and it was incredible. Totally chill and intimate setting, and the acoustic guitars sounded great. I'm pretty sure I sat behind Violet and their baby boy...The row of seats they were sitting in was roped off, but of course I can't be completely certain.
If only someone recorded that show... |

Pixies acoustic DVD detailed, set for release Contributed by aubin. Posted by brian on Friday, July 14, 2006 at 12:00 AM (EDT)
Eagle Rock Entertainment has posted information on a live acoustic DVD from Pixies, appropriately titled Pixies: Acoustic -- Live in Newport.
The set is taken from the band's performance at the Newport Folk Festival. Bonus features will include a 21-minute “fly on the wall” feature of the band in rehearsals for the set as they deconstruct their songs from electric to acoustic versions, including “Debaser,” which did not make the final set list, as well as a photo gallery.
Acoustic is set for release August 22nd and marks the band's fourth DVD in just over 2 years. They released another live DVD late last year entitled Sell Out via Rhino, and 2004 saw 4AD issue Live at the Town and Country Club 1988 as well as a self-titled documentary.
The band recently ruled out the possibility of further proper studio recordings.

Pixies Acoustic DVD Coming Jul 14, 2006
Just because The Pixies decided not to record any more albums it doesn't mean they're done releasing things.
The veteran alt-rock act gets all unplugged on us for the Live In Newport DVD, which captures an acoustic set at the 2004 Newport Folk Festival. True to DVD traditions, it comes with bonus material, including a short documentary on the concert.
The DVD will have to tide fans over, as singer/guitarist Frank Black recently let the world know his band won’t be recording new material ever again (read Aversion’s review).
Live in Newport’s track listing is:
Bone Machine Cactus Ed Is Dead All Around The World Subbacultcha Monkey Gone To Heaven Is She Weird? Here Comes Your Man River Euphrates Velouria Wave Of Mutilation I Bleed Crackity Jones Gouge Away Hey The Holiday Song Nimrod’s Song Mr. Grieves Caribou Vamos Where Is My Mind? Gigantic

Pixies Plan Live Acoustic DVD
Nearly 40 years after Bob Dylan plugged in the amp heard ‘round the world at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, the Pixies ventured a step back into the acoustic world at that same festival with a set of stripped-down versions of 22 of their best songs. Now the rest of us finally have something to show for it: the Pixies: Acoustic - Live in Newport DVD.
August 22 will see the release of the DVD on Eagle Rock Entertainment. In addition to the band's entire freshly reunited 2004 festival set, the DVD features a 21-minute behind- the-scenes look at rehearsals for the show (their acoustic debut!), including an attempt at deconstructing "Debaser", which ended up being cut from the final set list.
Wave of interpretation:
01 Bone Machine 02 Cactus 03 Ed Is Dead 04 All Around the World 05 Subbacultcha 06 Monkey Gone to Heaven 07 Is She Weird 08 Here Comes Your Man 09 River Euphrates 10 Velouria 11 Wave of Mutilation 12 I Bleed 13 Crackity Jones 14 Gouge Away 15 Hey 16 The Holiday Song 17 Nimrod's Song 18 Mr. Grieves 19 Caribou 20 Vamos 21 Where Is My Mind? 22 Gigantic
As previously reported, the Pixies are currently on tour in Europe. If you still have yet to see the reunited band live, you can catch them at one of the festival dates below.
All around the world:

The trackisting, according to Pitchfork, is as follows:

Pixies to release acoustic DVD The indie legends do the opposite of Dylan
Pixies are to released a DVD of their acoustic performance at the 2004 Newport Folk Festival - the same venue where Bob Dylan famously 'plugged in' in 1965.
'Pixies: Acoustic - Live In Newport', released on August 22, features the indie legends performing stripped-down versions of 22 of their songs.
The DVD package also features a 21-minute behind- the-scenes look at rehearsals for the show, including an attempt at trying to play their classic 'Debaser', which ended up being cut from the final set list.
The songs featured on the Pixies DVD are:
'Bone Machine' 'Cactus' 'Ed Is Dead' 'All Over The World' 'Subbacultcha' 'Monkey Gone to Heaven' 'Is She Weird' 'Here Comes Your Man' 'River Euphrates' 'Velouria' 'Wave of Mutilation' 'I Bleed' 'Crackity Jones' 'Gouge Away' 'Hey' 'The Holiday Song' 'Nimrod's Son' 'Mr Grieves' 'Caribou' 'Vamos' 'Where Is My Mind?' 'Gigantic'
The Newport Folk Festival is where Dylan famously caused a furious reaction from folk purists when he performed an electric set.
Meanwhile the premiere of the band's new documentary 'LoudQUIETLoud', which is the warts-and-all tale of their 2004 reunion tour, is premiered at The Edinburgh Film Festival on August 22 and 25. It's released on DVD on November 4.
Pixies are currently touring Europe, with shows at:
St Pölten Nuke Festival (July 15) Zagreb SRC Salata Festival (16) Nyon Paleo Festival (18) Ile de Gaou Voix du Gaou Festival (19) Lisbon Pavilhão Atlântico (20) Benicassim Festival (21) Carhaix-Plouguer Vieilles Charrues Festival (23)

Even if the sound quality of the show wasn't great, hopefully they'll improve on it for the dvd? Seems like a very similar set-list to the albany show....I'm especially excited to see their rehearsals (the behind the scenes stuff is always the most exciting for me; once i've seen the live show that is). Oh yeah, freakin phreak I checked my profile and the wrong email was on there....the right one is up now so if you still want to trade then shoot me an email. |

Pixies Unplug For New DVD Tuesday July 18, 2006 @ 06:00 PM By: ChartAttack.com Staff
Indie rock immortals The Pixies are set to release a DVD chronicling their acoustic performance at the 2004 Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island.
Pixies: Acoustic — Live In Newport, will appear on store shelves on August 22. The disc features the band performing 22 stripped-down songs at the venue made infamous by Bob Dylan, who performed a plugged-in set in 1965 that caused an uproar from folk purists.
The DVD also features a 21-minute behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals for the show, including an attempt by the band to play their classic song "Debaser," which was eventually cut from their set list.
Live In Newport is the second in a string of three DVDs planned by The Pixies. Last September they released Pixies Sell Out, an account of their July 2004 concert in Belfort, France.
LoudQUIETLoud, the documentary of the band's 2004 reunion tour, will hit stores on November 4. It's set to premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival on August 22.
These Pixies DVDs are the closest thing to new material that fans can expect. The band are currently touring Europe, but Frank Black has confirmed that they have no plans to make a new record.
Here's the set list for Pixies: Acoustic — Live At Newport:
"Bone Machine" "Cactus" "Ed Is Dead" "All Over The World" "Subbacultcha" "Monkey Gone to Heaven" "Is She Weird" "Here Comes Your Man" "River Euphrates" "Velouria" "Wave of Mutilation" "I Bleed" "Crackity Jones" "Gouge Away" "Hey" "The Holiday Song" "Nimrod's Son" "Mr. Grieves" "Caribou" "Vamos" "Where Is My Mind?" "Gigantic"

I live in Albany. The show at the Egg was most certainly the first acoustic set they'd ever played. Frank even maked a joke about it saying it was a secret, and that they could all be sued.
Great show.. Amazing venue.. Vamos a jugar por la playa |
