hello everyone:
i have been reading the forums for quite a while, but usually find myself shy in front of computers in the like. i use them only for film editing, keeping contact with people, reading how totally screwed up this rock is and, occasionally, to buy stuff.
now. i havent been living in north america for quite a while now (lived in korea for several years) so i've missed the boat, as it were, on getting to see frank either "alone" or with the p group. that has all changed recently as i now live in prague. yes, you say, he'll be going to the gig on the 11th surely. well no. that's not the deal. see i found out the gig was on, went to the palac and, as expected, tickets are gone. a real pooper.
so, you say, that's how it is. yes. but i am quite sad. see i've seen the p group before when i was a teen (when people at my 200 max capacity highschool in farm town ontario called me "pixie" because i was SOOOO about them) in detroit in 91, during the "last" tour, but have only wished i had the chance again.
to cut through a lot of the years that have passed since, i am a student here now and "shoestring" budget is more like a thread budget for me right now.
anyways tell me what you think of this lameo's response to my polite and, may i say, sweet offer for the tickets (a 600% mark up from selling price.)
sorry the offer is too low...
in order to make it worth it for me i would have to get 8000 czk for the pair. 1500 is less than what it would cost to see them in the west.. the show is important for me too because i really need a new computer and that would require 8000 czk. In the uk or germany the show would cost well over 120 euros, or 100 pounds, and then you could resell them for at least double, most likely even more. I think i'll just wait and either put them on ebay germany or uk, unless you change your mind. thanks anyway
sorry for the rant.
it's been a rough day e |

No, the show's not important to him, a new computer or money is important to him.
Let me know if he's on eBay or if you get ticket numbers and I'll do what I can to shut this guy down, though I'm not sure what rules apply to tickets in Czech. In any case, he's fishing to see how much he can rope you in for, and I'd tell him good luck getting that price and goodbye.
In any case, there is a special section in hell for career scalpers (i.e. not people who wound up with an extra ticket, but jackasses who bought the ticket specifically to resell).

It could be argued that Kooks fans deserve everything they get. |

How so? I mean why does it matter financially to bands who buys the tickets as long as they're bought. |

Yeah, I don't know how that would effect anything. Scalpers just artificially generate demand by hording supply and then hope to milk it out of consumers who actually want to buy it and shouldn't be forced to pay 6x the amount. If it were me, I'd take my chances on the night of and act as uninterested as possible. That's when they're most desperate and when most scalpers are out, so supply is suddenly great once again and prices drop.
Still I agree with MissMaceo's second pronouncement.

I've sold two tickets on eBay in my life, both because I couldn't make the show, and on both occasions I lost over 50% on the original sale price. I don't think I'm going to quit my day job just yet.
Not that I have a day job...

i sold two tickets recently, doubling the price of each. i will never do it again, b/c i too thought that hell would await. the good news was that the guy i sold them to obviously wasn't a big fan and he didn't seem put out by paying a high price at all. scalping should be illegal. it's too easy and sleazy. |

Yeah, but high five for doubling your money. I'm sure hell is more fun than heaven, anyway. |
