If she doesn't want to do Pixies music, i doubt having her sing/play on an FB album would really change that. Her reasons aren't about not being into playing with those guys, she's openly said that she doesn't want to record another album in case it would tarnish their legacy.
So how would playing on an FB album fix that?

She already did sing with FB on two new songs: "Bam Thwok" and "Ain't That Pretty At All." If anything were to make her want to record more Pixies, i'd say those songs were the opportunity. Plus, 90% of their output together has had a good response. I am very thankful that the band is sticking to its guns - if one of them doesn't want to do it, then they are respecting that decision. I'd rather new Breeders and FB albums that are inspired than Pixies albums that are forced. But some people just can't seem to put the Pixies to bed...

Just to hear Kim's voice next to Frank's would be a treat. If we're talking on a Breeders album, now that would be cooool. Kim Deal really should release more records. |

The Breeders are kind of like a continuation of The Pixies.

I could conceive of Kim guesting on an FB album, and why not. I don't think that would tarnish the Pixies' rep since it wouldn't be with the whole band or under that banner. But I agree with Brian that I'm glad they're not trying to force one out when they're not agreed on direction or feeling it. I don't care so much about rep, but if they were to try and do it the way Kim would presumably like, as in, in the old style, I think it would feel forced. If they were to go a completely separate direction, and it potentially sounded nothing like the Pixies, I could live with that too. But it may be that in that latter case, they've all gone in different directions and wouldn't have that same chemistry anyway. So many imponderables.

I was actually thinking about this before. It would have been unthinkable a few years ago, but now it doesn't seem so outrageous.

skatealex, I think you're right that it would be cool if frank and kim sang together. i don't care if its fb or breeders or what ever it would be cool. but to be honest how long have we been hoping that they would all get back and record? honestly a little piece of me gets really happy when i think about the possiblity. but really there have been so many false hopes with these sorts of rumors that i really have to block it out and say i don't care because my hopes have been dashed so many times that it's easier not to give a crap. then if they do record it will seem more like a miracle than thinking they will and then they won't and then they will and then won't and then having that cycle go on forever.
but i do agree with BF that thank god those four are a unit in terms of i am glad that they haven't replaced any of the members with some other artist that would really suck. |

edbanky, if that's your sig, it needs to be much, much smaller. The picture height is OK, but not with text above and below. Please resize, and thanks.

Sorry. For now it's gone. There's no table-like thing I could do so I've got the image with the text along the right side, is there?
Oh, also Kim Deal Frank Black CD blah blah umph.

Actually, I thought (even though Bam Thwok is pretty much a throwaway) that it was interesting hearing FB singing backup vocals on a Kim song, which he basically hadn't done since Gigantic.
Maybe there is more of a possibility of him making a guest appearance on the Breeders album? That would be a funny twist to the saga.
Mmmmmm. New Breeders album. Their last tour supporting Title TK was freakin' great. Forced to Drive live is so great - I think they have the guitars panned left and right so it's like you have headphones on, but it's live.

Blech. I doubt they would ever collaborate on anything non-Pixies, and that's a good thing. Kim's bass and back-up vox are absolutely essential to the Pixies, but contemporary Frank black != Pixies. |
