Well, it managed to get 33% of the votes. Maybe that's because only 3(?) people have voted at all.

It has in Europe, but yeah, I imagine it will take a few weeks to see the numbers get higher. That said, it will be interesting since the poll will hopefully have first-response reactions captured.

Yeah, just griping a bit because all the talk on the forum for the last month has been about an album I haven't been able to hear yet. Can't wait to respond to the poll. One more day!

What do you mean? It came out today. And some people got it a few days ago.

You mean Disc 3? Or just the album FMRM? I thought Jefrey mean FMRM.
Disc 3: No idea. This is the first time I've heard of it. FMRM: Came out today as far as I know. Check the News page.

Mine arrived today from Amazon.com and it is a two-disc set. That Disc 3 thing is a joke.

Floop, yes. In North America. In Europe it's Mondays.
There is no Disc 3. Sorry about the confusion. :/

I bought it yesterday.
I remember 10 YEARS AGO when I bought the first Frank Black album I was expecting: Cult of Ray. I bugged my local disc shop for 2 or 3 weeks. I used to live in a backwater so I had to wait long after the official release. i remember the teenage passion and madness about that biggest event of the year for me and the first listen, hands and heart shaking.
1st statement: It was along time ago.
2nd statement: Fuck downloads.
3rd statement: In spite of time and everyone changing, in spite of our growing old it is DAMNED reassuring to have a bunch of new Frank Black songs each and every years.
Songs that will have a flavour of time for ever.
Funny how it seemed so long ago last year when I bought Honeycomb. How my life and expectations were different.
Today I must admit I am blasé because I got disapointed to the highest point by someone I trust and admired. Today is my last day at work. Tomorrow I will be a full time musician. More than ever I have things to speak about and to scream about. Maybe I won't do a living of music but music is the only reason I live for.
Yesterday I bought Fast Man Raider Man and there are grand new songs.
I'm longing to know what next year will be all about.

In my town music CD's and movies come out on tuesdays. Video games come out on mondays though I think. The silly thing is, I KNOW they have the freaking things sitting in boxes a week in advance, they just won't sell them to you. Must be a soundscan thing.
Anyway, I got the album, and I was just going to listen to the first 30 seconds of each song, you know, to see what stuck out, and I liked it so much that I just kept listening. Loved the first disc - it sounds great! Mr. Tiven records good sounds. It's been a long time since I was so engrossed in a new record that I couldn't bring myself to "fast orward" a bit to see what was next.
Here's to hoping disc 2 is just as good! |

Well put. Whichever disc I think is better at a particular moment in time is the one that suits my mood.

Frank's albums are like children, from the elder brother of his debut, watching over each succesive sibling, to the new arrival the twins, who show a great aptitute for blues/jazz/country rock!! ;)

After 2 listenings of each CD I'd say Disc 1 is better.

Disc 1 is definitely the catchiest, but I suspect disc 2 is full of growers. The only song that really leaves me cold is "Highway to Lowdown".

Hey Dean, here's an idea for a poll: Which is your favourite era of Franks Music? A. Pixies B. Solo C. Catholics or D. the newly named 'Nashville era'.

To be honest I've listened to Disc 1 about 25 times and Disc 2 about 10. I can't tell if I like Disc 1 it better because I've listened to it more, or if I've listened it more because I like it better.
I'm sort of treating it as two seperate albums anyway really, so when I'm done giving my full attention to Disc 1 I'll move on to Disc 2.

If Disc 3 is made up, why have 10 people voted for it?
