I was wondering...
Euh... hum...

Oh yeah!

Is a Frank Black Album your favorite album ever?

And at the opposite is a Frank Black album your least favorite album ever.

That's instructive, inni't?

Joe

When at age 6 I asked my parents for a Poochy Doll they understood that I would never have a normal life. They loved me anyway but never bought me that sweet little pink doggy...
Then i discovered the Pixies and managed to control my pulsions... until... I mean you know...

Telechat used to be on the long-defunct The Children's Channel!

Finding pics of in on the web has brought back strange memories...the monkey is a bit strange with his starrey face, and the talking objects are down-right freaky.

Goodness, it's available on DVD!

yeah it also brings back strange very feelings to me, that was a very strange and interesting broadcast for children...

Roland Topor was a real genius, bo doubt about it.

Actually, I've came to ask myself if I was once the only kid that wasn't frightened at all by that broadcast, as since I've only met people Telechat gives a Real Bad feeling... Never saw it again since I was very young, but it was indeed a hell of a show. Definitely terrific.

Some things were a bit frightening for me too, but it was very fascinating at the same time. I wish I could see it again some day.

Yeah, why not a Telechat song on the Frank + EDF record? Or else the Leguman theme covered. That could be great. Fortunately, the dvd of Telechat has been released in France since a few months... that's not quite impossible to watch it again anymore!

(Joey don't click on that one, it won't make you any good)

http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=4E40385B398779A3]

...So everybody can hear and realize that this IS the missing song in the legendary Frank Black covers collection. We should make request to him, some petition, anything!
The lyrics:

(tentative and probably lame translation in)English - In the well arranged bedroom / Items are in danger / The starving vacuum cleaner /Wolf them down in no time / Is the game up? / No! /Leguman /Leguman / You're son of the Earth / The sun is your father / You make bite the dust / To the ones who want war / Leguman / Leguman

Now you can sing along the Leguman theme, at home, at your office, with you friends, with your loved one, with your dog or... anybody!

Haha, thanks a lot, guys!! I love the way Leguman takes on the capitalist scum in the last clip!!

Maybe Leguman could've sorted out the French riots, hehe!!

That song is Serge Gainsborough's finest hour!!

I vaguely remember that guy. Maybe he was called Vegetable Man over here.

"Here's a TV show, Telecat!"

I always remember that at the end of each show, something would happen and Lola the Ostrich would squawk. And it never made any sense. Maybe it was badly translated.

Well, it is possible but even for the french, some things were pretty tough to understand(for adults as for kids) as that is basically a surrealist broadcast... some sentences don't make any sense here either, if you take them literally! Watching some excerpts of the show now, I realize that was handsomely written, that makes Telechat a stroke of genius that can be appreciated in a very different way many years after the discovery of it!
