I haven't been a big television watcher for a few years now, and as a discriminate viewer, have never seen an episode of this show on the air, but this past week have been renting the first season dvd set of this show Boston Legal. I've always been a Bill Shatner fan(atic), and as of the past 10 years or so really come to enjoy James Spader's film work.
This show is fantastic.
Maybe I'm just getting old. I don't know. Nevertheless, I sat and watched the whole first season in a matter of days. The writing, while bizarrely idealistic and legally far-fetched, has a deft morally ambiguous and unbiased edge both pleasing and offending. The dialog is crackling, whip-smart, and consistently breaks the fourth wall...not a new concept at all, but somehow remaining fresh and genuine. And the actors chew all this up, swallow it, and fart it out with bravado. It is a seamless cast, and the chemistry, especially between Shatner and Spader, is awe inspiring.
Anyway, just wanted to express. It is fun, fun, fun!
