As some of you may already know... The story goes that PIXIES rehearsed Apache for Bossanova [as their ode to surf music] but in the end decided to cover Cecilia Ann instead.

I think CA works quite well as the opening track, but I keep thinking maybe Apache with a PIXIES spin may have been better, or just as good anyway.

I don't believe it was ever recorded, but what are the chances a rehearsal/demo recording was made? Could there be one under Gil Norton's bed?

According to Norton in 'Fool the World', plenty of backing tracks were recorded and left unfinished.

I'd love to hear it if it exists. Days like today remind me of Sundays round my folks while the roast cooked, the house was chilled with the sound of the Shadows. Give me a Pixies cover of Wondeful Land and I'll be a happy man.
