after getting paid out on the least favourite frank songs thread, i decided i'd go on a Frankathon and revisit the early frank albums which i hadn't listened to much in a while.
so i made a cd with every frank album on it, and a few choice singles - in mp3 from my iriver - and plugged it on random on my stereo.
and i'm pleased to say it's only been ursurped twice in the 2 weeks since i made it. and the only song i've actually skipped is 1826....sorry, just can't get that one....
i also made a couple more such cd's of my other favourite artists, but it's the frank one that gets played constantly. mrs benji even likes it.
i have to admit that fb+tc's is the album that has grown most on me during this exercise, and the last half of teenager ain't so bad afterall...

i have to admit i've really enjoyed the experience of rediscovering franks records all over again.

i've also enjoyed not having any live recordings on the cd's. i normally listen to much more live stuff than studio albums, but i've found myself getting bored wirth the music recently. but now with 'studio-only' time, i've rekindled my hunger....this applies to all music, not just frank...

ps. i'm not sure how 'random' my stereo is - snake oil seems to be played an disproportionate number of times.....

all i can say, thank god for polio! brian

I, too, have been running a Frankathon, but as a study aid. I'm at the tail end of my first year law school exams and I've been playing all of Frank's records, back to back, to set a pace. I won't let my self give up and go to sleep till fastman/raiderman finishes. So far its been good. I did the same thing last semester, but with Lou Reed instead.

Through this I've come to realize that Show Me Your Tears isn't as good as I remember, Dog in the Sand is just as good as I remember, and Cult of Ray is a lot better then I remember. Anyway, time to push play on the yellow/orange record (whatever) and cram for Property.

Frankathons are fucking badass.
Frank is the only artist you can put on random and love alsmost every single song!

I'm scouring 'Teenager of the Year' for a lecture on neorealist failure to anticipate the end of the Cold War. Maybe if I played it backwards?

When i used to work in a store room i'd bring in 8 hours worth of FB. Start playing it in the morning, and by the time it finished i knew work was over.
Now i have over 8 hours of FB. No-way i'm staying any longer

I have a Frank Black / Pixies playlist on my ipod in my car that contains every album. I leave it on random and listen to it 90% of the time I'm driving.

My wife occasionally asks for something else besides Frank Black/Pixies so I'm currently looking for her replacement. :)

My year 12 music study was on Frank's influence on 1990's rock (obviously focussed on Pixies and early Frank)

In effect, I listened and analysed Frank for all of last year as a subject, and recieved the maximum marks. I was quietly giggling to myself as I recieved my certificate from the governor!

It was a FrankFEST!
