So what are the greatest songs to dance to ever? Any genre, just whatever shakes yo ass!
I admit this is research mainly for my club night, not that I need much more music to choose from, as it's hard enough as it is, but I thought I'd see what the good people of fb.net like to shake their booty to. After all, you are the kind of people I hope to make dance. People with some taste (except Kitty who loves Shaun Of The Dead ; ))

Bowie always makes me wanna dance (especially "Young Americans", "Let's Dance", "Modern Love", "Blue Jean", "Stay", "TVC 15", "Fame", "Fashion", "Win", "Right", "Ashes To Ashes" and Depeche Mode (almost all the singles), but I have to admit it, the best song in the world to dance to is:
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson

If KOK comes around here he'll be pissed, but since the 80s are so popular I still love The Safety Dance!
I love ska and reggae to dance to after a couple of wobbly pops.

You know until you UKers said it I didn't even know there was a Prince Charming dance. I still haven't seen it. Anyone care to post a short example of themselves doing it???
Again, Adam Ant, mmmmmmmmmmmmm. (Then and not now though...)

Haha, oi cheeky!
So far from the suggestions, Daft Punk, The Clash and Depeche Mode are being played. And my friend is considering Hey Ya and some Beck.

You're a fool to yourself...
I second Hey Ya (plus the sight of a club full of skinny white boys dancing to hip hop is always hilarious.
Also I Am The Resurrection; anything by the Rolling Stones (Paint It Black is good); mix it up with some old school funk, the Meters or something; there's an ace version of Just that's out at the moment as well: http://www.myspace.com/markronson

Yeah definitely! I do like that one.
Cheeseman, Paint It Black is also a gem, well played in these parts already, so we will probably avoid it, but I do like to shake to that one. Stone Roses are a complete no no in Manchester for a new club night. They have been clinging to Madchester up here for way too long as it is. You know that.

It's a shame that Love Shack is the only track that get's played in this country. I always knew this band had so much more to offer. I DO need to check them out, I just always forget.

Hmm, well I guess us Southerners are way behind with our musical tastes. I blame McGee. I see your point though, but still... you can monkey dance to this...

Actually thinking about it, they never play Begging You and it's their best song to dance too. Hmmmmm.
Guy In a Rover, get the fuck out of here! Really? I thought Bumble and I were the only Mancs here. Have you ever been to the star & Garter?
We don't have a venue decided yet, currently mulling over a few.

Aye lad. Well I'm not strictly a manc, just here at University. Then who knows where the world may take me.......... My usual haunts include 42nd Street, 5th Avenue and Satans hollow.

I used to dance and frequent night clubs. Now I think dancing is somewhat foolish. That is not to say that I remain motionless when I hear a good song, however. Usually my head and left foot move to the beat. Very simple. To me, dancing is what separates those who listen to the music from those who write the music.

Guy, you need to discover some new clubs. Satan's Hollow is OK, if a little dead, but the other two are the worst indie clubs in Manchester.

Ha Ha yeah I know, Im not a massive fan myself, I just go along with the consensus, you cant even move in 5th ave and 42nd street is okay if a little pretentious. What I like about Satans is its complete and utter lack of pretentiousness, you can just turn up and mong about with all the sweaty goths and nobody judges you. Where's the Star and Garter?

Star & Garter can seem a little pretentious at times but the music pisses all over the other three. It's behind Piccadilly train station, where all the prostitutes hang out. You know?
Which night do you go to Satan's Hollow?
