Alright Folks who do we think it's gonna be or who do we want it to be?
I'm thinking we should keep it English, or at least someone who knows the Premiership inside out.
I think O'Neill is the best candidate, but I cant seem him going for it. Apart from that no-one really stands out. Id either go for Curbs or Big Sam but I dont think either of them is particularly tactically aware. I wouldn't go for Mclaren because although he knows the squad he's a bit of a boring bastard and likes to play counter attacking football. Also he looks like a coach driver.
Any thoughts...

None of the English candidates are good enough IMO. And there is no indication that O'Neill is ready to come back to football.
Therefore.....Cappello. We'd never get Wenger or Maurinho.

Hmmm, dunno about Cappello, he's a world class coach and everything but it will take him a while to get to know the players and might do things like pick Chris Powell (early Eriksson). Plus I dunno if he speaks English.
Btw, did anyone watch Fascism and Football &/or Communism and Football on BBC 4 last night.
Discussed how both the facists and communists used football as a political tool.
Showed how the Nazis murdered Austrias Matthias Sindelar, widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, because of his opposition to Germany annexing Austria and because of his refusal to join the new German-Austrian combined team.
In Russia, Eduard Streltsov, nicknamed the Russian Pele, was touted as one of the greatest players in the world. He was ordered to join either the Soviet Army's CSKA or KGB's Dynamo Moscow, but refused. As a result, Streltsov was kicked off the national team and was sent to seven years in a labor camp. When he returned, he'd lost his pace and strength and would never return to full fitness.
Was really interesting and saddening to see how arguably two of the greatest players in the history of the game became so embroiled in politics that they were killed or imprisoned.

There's no English manager good enough at the moment. Stuart Pearce may be good enough in the future I think, but not yet.

O'Neill's wife is apparently making positive progress, and you might find that something like the England job would suit him perfectly. No training day to day, watching and assessing players. I think of the possible English candidates, only McLaren has enough experience for the job. I just can't see Curbishley or Allardyce as having done what it takes to be an England manager. Hell, even McLaren hasn't really.
I don't know enough about foreign managers to judge them apart from on their pedigree and trophies. Any of those mentioned have more pedigree/trophies than any English manager in the running.
That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

I wouldn't want Big Sam, McLaren or Curbishley doing it really, none of them appeal to me at all. I mean, what have Charlton or Middlesborough ever actually done, for a start.
I think you have to go down the line of either:
a) Foreign but good - my pick is Martin O'Neill, the guy's a genius
b) English but interesting - Stuart Pearce, although he's way inexperienced. You've got to have someone with a bit of character really after Sven, and these two definitely have it.
Maybe bring back a legend of yesteryear, Big Ron or Terry Vegetables would do.

Well if O'Neill is up for it then I certainly wouldn't object. He can do that for four years then take over from Sir Alex.

Looks like it'll have to be me then. I did have a successful playing career winning the Under 9's League Cup and an Under 16's promotion.
I think I'm ready to take the step up to managerial level.
I can't be any worse than Big Sam, can I?

Bah, I've won the world cup with Scotland in Football Manager. I could take the job and destroy you from the inside (which is what Big Sam would do anyway)
