I have been an utterly miserable sod today for no fathomable reason. I've been snappy, grumpy, surly, argumentative. I don't know why - I can't think of a reason that I should be like this.
My wife said when I'm worse than this, I don't even notice I'm being like it. So, thank heavens for small mercies.
Anyone else get like this? Is it 24 hr misery - will all be sunny and bright tomorrow?
Cheer me up - or take the opportunity to piss me off when it can't make me much worse.

Eat a grilled cheese sandwich and visualize a bowl of pears...and coming from the pears imagine a soft, high-pitched sound. That should cheer you up.

Yeah, that happens to me too. Just the other day I was telling my dad I was in a horrible mood and had no idea why, and it was all I could do to be pleasant. Very conscious of it and trying not to be rude. Where other days I've been in a bad mood and just been rude only to regret it when I'm doing better, not noticing as you say.
I've often wondered why some days I can tell and attempt to stop it where other days, maybe I still can tell but don't really notice or care or consider the consequences.
I think it's a sleep thing, but who knows. I've never had it more than one day... so there's that.

Oh yeah, all swings and roundabouts I find. Happy go lucky one minute, happy to rip your throat out the next.
If at all possible watch Monk, never fails to cheer me up.

It may be a sleep thing. I had a good nights sleep last night, but the night before was a bit short due to me staying up to watch that smug bastard Mickelson win the Masters.
See? So much anger.

What I don't understand is the rare day when I'm in a good mood. Today I've been fuming over what a fucked up document the U.S. Consitution is.

Actually, you've broken my dream. I dreamt about you the other night. Don't be nervous. You lived in this kind of ramshackle house and I stayed there for some reason, just visiting. The next morning you'd kind of changed, looked younger and I realised you were sucking the life force from me. Then I hit you over the head with a golf club - a 3 wood I think. I can remember looking at the blood left on the clubhead. Really sorry.

Llama, that made me laugh, which doesn't happen everyday. So that's why I dreamt I was a Titleist. As for the the diminished life force, that's not a good thing? Sounds like it was my own life force that was impacted somewhat, what with the 3 wood. I assume you caught it in the sweet spot.
And I enjoyed Michelson's victory. Quite the stalwart performance, I thought. Why do you find him smug? He's always struck me as something of an everyman. A country club baby, a Republican maybe, but nonetheless an everyman. And I like that he reads physics for relaxation. |

I was actually pretty distressed yesterday that I missed it because I had a job interview. My friend phoned me that evening and reassured me that it was one I had already seen. Phew.

lbf - are you mocking me? That may be it partly, as my exercise has been pretty much halted this week due to injury.
erebus - Mickelson just seems to walk around with that little smile on his face, even when he's losing. It irritates me a bit. It was a great performance though, from someone who was a choker three years ago, he's really thrown off that tag. It was such a shame that Couples and Tiger just couldn't get their putters working (in Tiger's own non-PC words, he putted like a 'spaz' - tsk, tsk)

I can usually tell exactly what has me pissed or cranky. When my wife gets her period, I usually follow suit with a prominent change in my hormones. I try to stay ahead of the game and avoid anything that could potentially endanger, or worsen, my mental or emotional status.
