never was a fan but for $1.00 i brought home a very clean cassette of 'More Songs About Buildings And Food'. listened to it straight through on headphones and was knocked over even though i was laying down. what a joy music can be.

"The Good Thing" is one bitchin' song. I guess it's time to drag out the olde vinyl. |

Talking Heads are my favourite band, you know. Fear... is also my favourite. After that, I'd say the rest are all in joint second place, with perhaps Naked and True Stories a joint third.
Cassettes are great, particularly from charity shops. Got a B-52s album the other day on cassette for £1. HMV on London's dirty Tottenham Court Road has some interesting newer cassette releases, I noticed a while ago. A Coldplay album, for example. Hmm.

I miss cassettes. I wish I still could listen to mine, unfortunately the cassette player on my stereo is dead. Now I have to buy everything on CD. Grrr

Why don't you just buy a new cassette player, vilainde? There can't be too expensive now can they (y'know, just a basic one)? You'd be able to listen to your cassettes again.

I'll give you that. Although they do have their uses (portable MP3 players). Basically they should only make portable MP3 players.

Used tapes and vinyl are a great way to try new music, instead of $16 for a CD, I got "Nashville Skyline" on vinyl for $2.
I liked the Talking Heads but I didn't have any of their records until I got "Sand In The Vaseline" on cassette for $4.99 at Newburry Comics. I really liked it and started buying their albums. (All on tape, except "77" "More Songs" and "Creatures".
By the way, the "Naked" album is cool- the cassette is YELLOW!
I just sold a bunch of old tapes because now I've got the songs I like on the computer, but I kept some, including my most prized tape: Throwing Muses first album that I got, of all places, at some small record store in the ghetto.

everyone says "remain in light" is their best but really except for the cover and packaging it's dull
"Speaking In Tongues" is good clean fun

The "Goo Goo Ga Ga Ga" part at the end is so cool. You can't help singing along and dancing over it.

The best concert film ever. The version of "Slippery People" in that film is just sublime.

I found Pere Ubu's Cloudlands, Bryan Ferry's Girls and Boys AND Throwing Muses' 'Hunkpapa' (even though I already had it) in the same charity shop, all 50p! |

Little Creatures is fucking awesome. For some reason I had the idea that the Talking Heads post-Remain in Light weren't that great. How wrong I was. Plus, I bought the Dualdisc version, remixed and with extra tracks and videos, at bargain price. Yay.

"Dream Operator" is a fantastic. For as abstract and weird as David Byrne came across, he could really write a good pop song, too. |
