Ok so this isn't a real reference to our Frank Black since it was put out in 1986 but still pretty cool.

My fb.net podcast will mention that Eno's 1973 glam-rock masterpiece "Here Come the Warm Jets" includes a song called "Blank Frank."
Thanks for posting. I wonder what Frank thinks of all this.

despite some people's theory that it's about peeing and despite the cover showing a woman peeing, warm jets is eno's own expression for the guitar in the title track, which kinda sounds like a plane engine.

Honestly I don't see what's strange about it. Two words that share 9 out of 10 common letters and the words aren't even in the same order. Plus CT didn't even call himself "Frank Black" until almost two decades after Eno's album.

Haha oh crap. Talk about having Frank Black on the mind, I completly thought that this Eno release was called more BLACK than Frank, maybe because I found is searching for Frank Black on eBay, anyway apparently it's BLANK which is a pretty weak connection, so sorry about that.

huh... I read that it really did refer to pissing. but the guitar connection makes sense too. he was a big cokehead anyhow.
would be great for eno to engineer the new pixies album, the one that's never going to happen.
incidentally, digging eno a lot and all, for anyone who hasn't listened to "discreet music", go and listen to "discreet music". : ) ohmygod it is so good
other frank-eno connections.... eno worked with bowie, and bowie sang with frank; eno worked with u2, and bono spoke of the pixies in that documentary (right?); eno worked with john cale + nico, and fb loves them v.u.; eno was in roxy music, fb covered a roxy song; eno worked with talking heads, and jerry harrison was in the modern lovers of which fb wrote the man who was too loud; ... other connections? or is this boring you? |
