Hey all. I want to share that I used to drink a lot, and i mean a lot! I got myself into some deep shit cause of it too. I won't go into it. But.... I only say this because after 2 years of sobriety, i've noticed a lot of obvious drinking references, and a lot of subtle drinking references. I'm in no way speculating about Frank himself, but the references are too numerous to list as far as BLD and beyond (and i just finished reading the lyrics to FMRM). Just wondered if anyone else noticed, or if it is just me reading into it from my own life perspective. I must say I certainly admire and appreciate the lyrics and to what he's created, regardless of any interpretation I might have (whether it's correct or off base). Personally, it's been kind of spooky (in a good way) as to how i've been interpreting the undertones of much of his work from his upcoming album, and those preceding it. |

Hi clemray, glad to hear you've sorted yourself out...SMYT has a couple of drinking references on it. And I suppose there's Whiskey In Your Shoes from DM.
Oh yeah...."I had a talented wine...."
Apparently, Frank knows his drink, his father having been a publican, and his brother, too. I think he has a decent knowledge of wines, etc.

I think there are just a lot of references to alcohol in rock music in general. It's that whole sex-and-drugs thing, I suppose.

as someone who consumes large quantities of alcohol i've always appreciated the numerous, multi-faceted drinking references in FB songs
"A man must know his destiny… if he does not recognize it, then he is lost. By this I mean, once, twice, or at the very most, three times, fate will reach out and tap a man on the shoulder… if he has the imagination, he will turn around and fate will point out to him what fork in the road he should take, if he has the guts, he will take it." - General George S. Patton |
