Having a masters in the field of work you're looking for, having everyone turn their nose up at you for lack of experience and then not being able to get a job in a fucking bookies because you have a masters.

That ol delayed gratification hoodwink is a bitch. Jobs suck too, but then again, I feel we should be paid for just being ourselves.

Who wants a revolution anyway? working a nine-to-five is nothing if not cyclical behaviour.

really? our grass hasn't even begun to grow yet....I can't imagine having to cut it for another month.
hmmmm, Newo's comment got me thinking, in adulthood, I've never had a 9 to 5 job.

Llama, my lawn down here is a few inches high in places. Just waiting on some nice weather. A few snowdrops shooting up, mind. |

People slate 9-5's, I'm dead happy in mine. I like the fact that I can switch off at 5 and not have to worry about things. People are too demanding these days, they want all these fancy jobs. Pah.

jobs that I have to switch off from drive me crackers (even if the colleagues are friendly), i prefer the creative kind that don´t feel like work.

Well I can't argue with that. I don't have high ambitions, me, I like having this secure and undemanding job, and doing anything creative in my spare time.

Ever done a phone interview like that, zub? So much gets lost in the translation. It's hard not to come across as a dork. Thank god I somehow managed to snag an in-person interview.
Thanks for your nice words, you guys.

Congrats Kathryn. Phone interviews really stink, particularly if there's more than one person on the other end.
My worst phone interview experience was I think my first. They had this terrible system where whenever I was talking the audio from their end was cutoff. So they would ask a question and would start off on my typical bullshit answer, but I couldn't hear them. I couldn't hear them agreeing or prompting me that they had heard enough. Each time I was left wondering should I keep talking or pause so that I can hear whether they're talking. I didn't get the second interview.
I'm off this weekend to South Dakota to interview for a job. Why I'm going, I don't know. Maybe I'll like it there (unlikely). |

Don't I know it? Whoever invented the idea of being "overqualified" should be dragged out in the street and shot (as Garfield might say).
I guess I actually have a temporary job (in addition to the part-time ones I've been doing), but I don't know when I'll actually be working at it.

right smack dab in the middle of montreal, darwin. which is why i'm such a nervous wreck. it's the ideal job, which would, among other things, take me to where i want to be. all because a certain forum member from canada refuses to adopt me and i have to go via a work permit/immigration process.

If I lived in Montreal, I'd go to that underground mall ALL THE TIME.
Well, until I got bored with it, anyway.
