It's better being a gooner than a fan of a lot of clubs here. If anyone here is a Pompey fan they can just take themselves away and never come back, scummers.
I live about equidistant between Spurs and Arsenal and I feel like I should pick one. But that might be just diving into a war I don't want to get involved with. Come on you Saints, back up next season.

You and me both: I'm preparing for the ultimate humiliation of finishing beneath Hull, which is my bosses team. Hull! For crying out loud. We've got a few good players coming through though, hopefully next season will be more successful.
It was only the season before last that we were in the UEFA cup, how mental is that? Damn that Gordon Strachan for bailing on us.

Well I'm a Wigan fan and must say thanks for Brett Ormerod at the end of last season. He scored a couple of goals that helped us get promoted! I wonder why we didn't get him permanently? Now he's at Preston. Grrrr. Good luck to Saints next season. I'd rather you be in the Premiership that Pompey!

Ormerod is not premiership class, that's why they didn't get him permanently I would have thought.

Well that was the best game I have seen since the Champions League Final last year. Amazing. English clubs seem to pull off these kind of comebacks more than anyone else.

I'm from an Everton/United family. We used to celebrate united titles and toffee escapology equally. I haven't been to Goodison for ages.

My 'English' team is Liverpool, mainly because Dalglish went from Celtic to them in the 70's. My wife is a Liverpool fan. She used to stand in the Kop to watch them every home game.

God I wish I could understand a single post on this thread. I really do. Man, the language is so similar yet so foreign.
So if I said "what did you think of the cross-over right before the alley-oop Nash lobbed to Marion and he threw it down over Kobe's head"...would that mean anything to you?
I do enjoy watching soccer, but I seriously couldn't tell for a while if it was definitely football talk, or was rugby or cricket or something. You guys can talk some sports that's for sure.

Fbc you should definitely take a trip down to Goodison again soon. Im off there next Saturday to watch the Spurs game. Whereabouts are you based?
Superabounder, if its any comfort, I have no idea whats going on in any of your North American sports, especially American football, constantly stopping and starting, whats all that about? We do love our football (soccer over here though).

Sports, yes. Even soccer. But you need a lot of fantasy and/or enthusiasm to make a connection between the likes of Everton, Wigan, Southampton, Portsmouth and Hull and the CL-semis...

Wigan will be in the Champions League semis in less than 10 years time. Also, we will be in the F.A. cup final next year against Tottenham (I had a dream about it a few weeks ago and am certain it will all happen )

...talk about sore losers...
AP
Published April 10, 2006
A group of Inter Milan fans, angered by the team's unexpected elimination from the Champions League, attacked the players at Malpensa airport late Saturday night after an Italian league victory. Fans shouted insults as the players arrived. In a parking lot outside, some masked fans turned violent, leaving midfielder Cristiano Zanetti with a bruise on his head. Two police officers were injured.

That is pretty intense, but the Italian police do need a clout or two round the helmet now and again, baton wielding bafoons. At least they weren't thrown in jail for losing, shot or had a parent kidnapped for ransom. You gotta love South American footy. |

That was just a one off, homers. We will be stronger next season. We'll win the Premiership, the League Cup and the F.A. Cup!
Nah, actually I'd just be happy to stay up again. They say the second season is harder than the first. In about an hour or so I've got to go and queue for tickets for the Arsenal match (last ever at Highbury). Should be fun standing in the freezing cold for hours!

Heh, to take a country's cuisine as criterion for the support of their national team is an interesting approach.
The second point you mentioned seems to be a more traditional way... |

That was quick.
And totally uncalled for. We have a lot of tasty arguments going for us!
But then again, the german team seems to be in pretty good company. What with the brits, dutch, polish, swedish, ucrainians etc... |

I'll be supporting England in the world cup, but only because my kids are half English and it might help prevent ongoing fights with my wife.
