The band join the Spanish festival
Pixies are the latest addition to this year's Benicassim festival.
The band join the bill for the Spanish festival along with new announcements The Futureheads, Miss Kittin, Codec & Flexor and White Rose Movement.
Other previously announced acts include The Strokes, Morrissey, Franz Ferdinand, Babyshambles, Depeche Mode, The Rakes, Echo & The Bunnymen, Jay-Jay Johanson, The Sunday Driver, Venus, Dionysos and Teitur.

Meanwhile, Pixies frontman Frank Black will release a brand new double album 'Fastman/Raiderman' on June 19.
Following last year's 'Honeycomb' and paired again with producer Jon Tiven, the 27-song collection was recorded over a two-year period at studios in Nashville and Los Angeles.
Tracks set for inclusion on the LP include 'Kiss My Ring', 'Dog Sleep', 'In The Time Of My Ruin', 'Highway To Lowdown', 'Sad Man's Song', 'Where The Wind Is Going', 'Fitzgerald', 'Elijah', 'Raiderman' and 'My Terrible Ways'.
Black is currently planning to put together a band to tour the songs on 'Fastman/Raiderman' and will hit the road later this year.

You know what - I'm sick of fesivals. Too old to queue at toilets and stand around all day drinking cider. They won't let me in the pit in case I need CPR. Anyway - I'm off to bed, (at 18.20!!)

Damn it! That IS a great lineup! Is anyone going? I am really thinking about it. I mean: The Strokes, Morrissey, Franz Ferdinand, Babyshambles, Depeche Mode and last but not least The Pixies! What a lineup. And in spain, too... |

Whilst all those who fancy combining a festival jaunt with their annual escape to a hot sunny place may find the FIB festival in Benicassim, on the eastern coast of Spain, an attractive option. Franz Ferdinand and Morrissey will be putting in an appearance here as well (both seem to be doing the rounds this summer), as will the Pixies, Echo and the Bunnymen and the Strokes, together with British favourites such as Madness. A ticket for the festival, which runs from 20th-24th July, also includes 9 days of access to the beachside campsite, allowing you to really make the most of those sandcastles.
But note, FIB is not a festival for the faint hearted/ fan of sleeping. Owing to the ridiculously warm temperatures, the music doesn’t actually start until early evening and continues until the small hours, so be prepared to be watching the likes of the Pixies at 3AM. The smaller tents wind things up around 6 or 7 in the morning.

There are some seriously big hitters playing this year - the Pixies for one. This could be one of the last chances you have to witness their colossal back catalogue live. |
