I just want to add, "Crash" isn't a terrible movie, there were just things I didn't like about it.
But Matt Dillon was good in it, and I thought the guy who played the locksmith did a good job, especially the scenes with his daughter. Actually the guy who played the crazy commie who was pissed at the locksmith was good too, because his character really made me mad.

I can't believe I got one wrong, and it was the first one. Be prepared for me to run the table from here on out. The only one I'm not sure on is the makeup, but I think the Star Wars series will finally get a slight recognition. Alos not sure Geisha will win 3 awards.

They just gave Best Song to "It's Hard...". I'm pretty shocked. Just before they got the award, they performed it, very lame, there were dancers up front- it was like any dance routine from any video off of Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation,and, like every other rap parformance, there are the performers, then there are the friends, the hangers-on, who: clap their hands, wave one arm over their heads, rock to the beat, ect.

I haven't seen Crash (although I wanted to) but if you compare it to Chicago (winner in 2003), A Beautiful Mind (2002), Shakespeare In Love (1999), Titanic (1998), The English Patient (1997), FUCKING BRAVEHEART (1995), Forrest Gump (1994)... I can't believe it's worse than any of these.

CRASH sucked. it's not uncommon for the acacemy to award inferior movies. i'm just angry that i didn't pick the one they'd award. i'm in an oscar poll at work for $70.
part of the reason CRASH won, or so some theorize, is because the largest voting population of the academy is the actors guild. and CRASH was a very actorly, performance-driven type film. which still sucked.
in years where there aren't very many good movies everyone has to glom on to something and pretend that it was good. CRASH is this year's SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE. only worse.
at least KONG won some of the categories it deserved |

By the way jimmy, I'd like to point out that I'm not actually the world's biggest 'Crash' fan and it doesn't bother me if anyone thinks it was awful. It was just that compared to the other nominees I didn't think it was bad enough for someone to say 'anything but 'Crash'. If you know what I mean...

The Academy seems to look at movies about human tragedy and or racism with a nervousness of "we better give it an award or we'll look like assholes" rather than look at the actual quality of the film. Sometimes they are deserving (Schindler's List and possibly The Pianist) but Crash (the only movie I saw on the list this year) is a case in point of a movie that wasn't very good at all, however it's topic is what made it a shoe in for the award.

Hey all
I was on vacation since Monday, but i'd like to say that i am proud of my silver medal performance in this competition. If i had gone with my gut instead of my damn rational thought, i'd had guessed CRASH and Clooney, but i was trying to go with what i thought the Academy would've voted for. Oh well. Congrat LBF - just wait'll next year BIATCH
